Kildare hammering Antrim. Our whole year hinges on that game in Newbridge hunting (Wexford) - Posts: 1171 - 08/02/2026 15:12:14 2655512 Link 0 |

I don't think so because if we were to beat Dublin and then lose against Clare and Kildare and if Kildare were to win all their remaining games, we'd either lose out on H2H to Kildare or else we'd be in a three-way-tie with Kildare and Dublin on 8 points which would come down to score difference in the six league games

Not sure I'd read much into any one league game, they lost to Dublin last week by 14 points and only scored 2 points from play (And hit 15 wides) Antrim do seem poor though, were three down at HT but looks like they threw in the towel when they conceded the first goal today ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 863 - 08/02/2026 15:22:16 2655514 Link 0 |

How do you figure that? We've 6 points on the board. I'd say we're expected to finish third and that's possible based on the panel challenges we've had

Next two games are the acid test anyway, the first three games were about two things: winning and giving young players experience. 2/2 on that front but only just about! ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 863 - 08/02/2026 16:01:43 2655518 Link 0 |

Alot of hurling to be played between now and the end of the League. I really hope we arent playing our best hurling in any of the last 3 League games if it means we are flat come championship. Or carrying alot of injuries.

He doesn't have to control it with his hurl first. Watch back again. Hes just in the habit of doing it because players arent told that that is wrong all the way up. Young lads as their stick work gets better think that its cool to catch the ball that way, when in fact it just slows their game down. Bad coaches not correcting them then doesn't help.

Ah that's right. Makes a bit more sense so. I wasn't thinking that far ahead yet. Right now we've no Idea where anyone will be at come championship. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 4210 - 08/02/2026 18:23:37 2655537 Link 1 |

I'm not sure which player you're thinking of but I saw it across the field. I thought some of Fanning's short passes to the full back line were poor. Totally agree it slows down the game and allows the opposition to circle, needs to be worked on in my opinion

Loads of our Senior lads. And underage lads. Not anyone in particular. Even some of our most experienced lads do it.

Suppose the next two games are the real acid tests (Good chance that the Kildare game will be a dead-rubber) ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 863 - 08/02/2026 19:34:28 2655547 Link 0 |

Yes we will be promoted but the league final will be the last round game against clare in ennis . Thats what clare are hoping for. They would love to to us beating the dubs !

Very happy with the performance yesterday, a big improvement on previous 2 games, Looking forward to Dublin match but hope the same thing dosent reaccurr from championship last year, they targeted us on puck outs, was like david and goliath, we have no height in the half back line nor full back line, I'd be bringing chin back to half back or full back as he might not be taking frees and move Richie lawlor up to the forwards, we have nobody else to go back and Dublin will destroy us esp on pucking outs fathermurphy (Wexford) - Posts: 331 - 08/02/2026 21:05:53 2655561 Link 0 |

We won't be promoted if we beat Dublin because Kildare could still finish on 8 points If we were to beat Dublin, we would need to (a) get a point off either Clare/Kildare or (b) hope that Kildare drop a point against Down or Carlow (Assuming they lose to Clare) ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 863 - 08/02/2026 21:43:07 2655563 Link 0 |

I would say another year in 1b would be good for us. Look at this year, would we have been able to afford the level of development that some of the players are getting if playing in 1a and hoping to stay up? Development doesn't mean you need to play against the best, in fact its the opposite. We will play Clare, Dublin, Kilkenny and Galway this year, those will be enough of a yardstick to see where we are. zinny (Wexford) - Posts: 2164 - 09/02/2026 07:56:37 2655582 Link 0 |

Like I said, great chance of a league final if we got a result against Dublin. Not making any assumptions about Kildare at all. If we could avoid it, we'd be better off not giving too much away in that game. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 4210 - 09/02/2026 08:38:54 2655585 Link 0 |
