Not to be fair Naomh Brid today. Hope MLR do the job tomorrow.

Dissapounting result today. The sending off looked like the end of mlr chances but they battled hard to stay in game. Some poor defending and lack of physicality were the difference. Worrying times for carlow hurling. As the old guard move on who will replace them?

Is there any sign of the football u21s starting yet ? There is a Kilbride/Hanrahans combined team in it this year I hear. Mostly Kilbride I assume.

Disappointing result for MLR today but in fairness they can have no complaints as Naas were slightly better and worth a three point win. Sending off didn't help especially losing Chris of all people but even then I felt the game was slipping away from them.

The sharpness of touch just wasn't there today and the greater physicality of Naas told in the conditions when there were loads of hurling scrums and Naas seemed to win 75% of them. Saying that I do t think a firm sod would have evened it up either maybe the physicality would have mattered less but Naas have sharper skills just now.

End of the road at the highest level for some of the MLR old guard I'd say unfortunately I can't see them being serious contenders for a Leinster again for the foreseeable future anyway. They have some promising younger guys and some played today but they'll need to strengthen up as some looked lost today in those conditions anyway.

Mlr a bit unlucky today.
Physical just a bit off a strong Nass side.
But there not to far off any of the top team's really, and should be able to compete for a while to come.

What's more worrying is what I heard in the stand today.

" As of yet the county minor hurlers have no management team in place "

Very disappointing to hear, especially when there should be a decent team there with a nice few having played some part in last year's reasonably successful campaign.

That's a very strange combination if true. I can't see some of the townees being interested enough to bother playing with Kilbride so yeah a mostly Kilbride team I'd say.

Starting on weekend of 28 November. Hurling semi finals on this weekend and final the weekend after.

2018 they lost by 6 to a good Coolderry team.
2019 St Mullins beat Cuala from Dublin and Rathdowney from Laois.
2021 MLR lost by 6 to Ballyhale, who narrowly lost the AI final.
2022 St Mullins beat our county champions
2023 MLR lost to OLG, who lost the AI final by just 1 point.
2024 St Mullins lost to KK from Offaly.

That's all pretty good when you consider the long lay off your county champions have.

Since Hanrahans won their last title in 2000 you have reached twice as many Hurling Leinster finals as Football ones.

U21 hurling championship semi finals this weekend. Mlr should beat st Mullins easy enough. But the other game Naomh Eoin vs Carlow Town will be a cracker

Club provinvial hurling is generally closer to intercounty standard than club provincial Football. Most of the teams that make provincial club hurling championships have a higher percentage of intercounty players than most of the clubs who make intercounty football championships.

That's plainly because there's less hurling clubs/hurlers compared to football.

Should be interesting weekend alright. MLR favourites to win out having won all their games to date. St Mullins have some quality players but not wnough for an upset. Carlow Town had a narrow win away to naomh eoin so really hard to call that one. Whichever teams wins that will fancy putting it up to MLR in the final.
