Replying To CRTW:  "The Irish were about 600 years behind in urban planning unforunately (wonder why) and never thought of putting trains underground, if they had who knows maybe there could be a rounded off Croke Park, however I think it makes it even more unique and a terrace stand always adds more atmosphere. Terreaces being removed from stadiums accross the way from us has ruined atmospheres in the PL."
They are being brought back in over there these days

IRFU have bought up most the houses on one end of the Aviva stadium. Future plans will be to redo the end with all the glass into seating but first the are building a high end hotel in the area.

Could you make a train stop at croke park? that would be handy if the rail goes under the hill 16

Cmon in fairness Ireland was a very rural country unlike the Industrial Giants so it's pretty forgivable in my opinion.

the irfu are buying up houses that end as they come to market but stadium wont expand too much and certainly wont ever be like the south end. FAI dont need or want to spend on redevelopment and IRFU dont need it for many games.

Train station directly at the stadium wouldnt work. No space for platforms, lifts, stairs, ticket machines etc. The lines are bounded by the stands, the canal and back gardens of adjoining houses and hill 16 is bet right up to the tracks.

Also, if it's direct access to the stadium you've the prospect of hundreds of people now queueing at turnstiles at the exit of the station/entrance to stadium and not a lot of room to allow for overflow that leads to stationary crowds on the platform or possibly still on the train, and that train cannot now move off and the network becomes gummed up.

Lansdowne passengers exit onto Lansdowne Road and there is plenty of capacity to get a full train of passengers off safely before hitting turnstiles, or in reverse plenty of space for them to queue for return trains

Was in a safe standing area at a game in UK before the international break. It was great, it should really be done for Hill 16.

Reports in NZ and in south Africa are saying they could be playing a rugby game against each other in croke park next year. Looks like the gaa will be using the stadium to host international sports from now on. Can't say I am too happy with random rugby games being played here.

I think its amazing that one of the greatest international sporting fixtures on the planet could happen a stones throw from where I live is truely an honour! Ill be there! Is it not better to have that stadium hosting something like that or leave it sitting in darkness!?

You're not generally happy with anything the GAA doesn't Kew. Shock horror.

Croke Park and GAA will get huge money from hosting the game. The stadium not likely to be in use otherwise so where is the problem?

The best 2 rugby teams for pretty much the entire history of the sport playing in our national stadium? How bad?!

You love the non-random rugby games being played here though?.Did you inform World Rugby about this?

Realistically, the big games to get in are NFL, Champions league, EPC finals etc

Only way to get them in is to turn Hill into a safe standing area, where the seats can be folded out as a nominally "all seater". The current Terrance set up is out of date

It could soon get to the stage (pardon the pun) where there will be more concerts than games in HQ."
Sure outside of the All Ireland finals its about the only other times there's a full house in Croker.

This is Kew, everything is a problem when it comes to the GAA. Gas altogether.

Both All Ireland hurling semi finals sold out 82300.
The All Ireland football quarter and semi finals also attracted huge crowds.

Leave the Hill alone.
If rugger or yankball want to rent Croke Park as it is for occasional games that's fine but redeveloping to meet needs of other sports .......NO!

In fairness you could hypothetically route the Dublin Sligo line to Heuston at a number of points e.g. Mullingar and at the Phoenix Park line junction

Why refer to rugby degoratorily as rugger. you dont see many if any these days in ireland refer to it as that who follow the sport unless theyre doing it ironically. And it may come down line in time that GAA may want or have to convert the hill to to all seater
