Replying To Eire89:  "Please explain your understanding of "Homegrown".Look at the pick and population they have not delivered and last co title was 2012 which is simplyu not good enough for a club their size and with all their underage success were they can field up to 6 teams in age groups they if anything should be ashamed of their return."
Homegrown as in they have all come up through the underage ranks with the club.
They didn't join Salthill as adults.

Replying To jm25:  "Is tomo not from Clarinbridge. Was Rob allay with Salthill even when father was out playing for carraroe?"
Do I not remember seeing one of the Culhanes (not certain it was Tomo) playing underage for Galway and their affiliated club was Clane (or some other team in Kildare). Tomo definitely played minor for Salthill but there was a Kildare element there at some point.

It's been a pretty straight forward Senior championship so far with all the Favourites winning. There hasn't been a stand out game yet apart from Corofin and Miltown. The bottom sides seem to be as bad as ever. Annaghdown, Michaels and Monivea are very very poor. Barna are poor but will stay up (Groundhog day). The tops teams are not really showing much quality either apart from Moycullen maybe. Overall the standard has been very poor, maybe teams are aiming to peak from pre lims on.

Mtb Vs Ougtherard- MTB by 3
Salthill Vs Michaels- SK 15+

Corofin Vs LM- Corofin by 8
Miltown Vs Monivea- Miltown by 8

Moycullen Vs James- Moycullen by 1
Kilannin Vs Barna- Kilannin by 2

Tuam Vs Annaghdown- Tuam by 9
Dunmore Vs Claregalway- Draw

Replying To Fox.1n.7he.b0x:  "There is a lot of talk that Pj is not going to be the manager next year!! Anyone else hear this rumour??"
No truth to this rumour. He will be in charge next year I've told.
To this weekend's action. Oughterard M/M could be a really good game. Second place in group up for grabs. Finnerty back for M/M might swing it in their favour.
I expect a big Corofin performance this weekend following their game against Milltown.
I think Barna may beat Killannin with a couple of players back. May not be enough to avoid bottom place though.
Dunmore Claregalway could go either way. I'll go for a draw.
That would leave things looking something like this!

Winners and into quarter finals: Moycullen, Corofin, Salthill/Knocknacarra, Tuam.

Second place: Killannin, Milltown, Mountbellow/Moylough, Dunmore

Third place: St James, Leitir Mor, Oughterard, Claregalway

Would set up some intriguing Quarter Finals

Mountbellew have no luck at all with injuries. Eoin Finnerty starting his first game back today and he picks up a bad leg injury.

Antoine Ó Laoi has been outstanding at intermediate level this year, sharp, mobile, and reliable on frees. PJ needs to show openness to bringing in form players for the league or the FBD which might return. With Walsh and Finnerty not always available early in the season, someone like Ó Laoi could offer something in the inside line.

Brian Mannion is harder to ignore, a natural footballer, and he deserves a sustained run of games rather than in-and-out appearances.

Shane McGrath from Dunmore as well is such an exciting and skillful player, has some trajectory in the air, have seen him a couple of times this year.

Would love to see an experimental team again if the fbd returns:

On current form a panel could look something like:

1. Kyle Gilmore
2. Rory O'Connor
3. Cathal O'Regan
4. Gavin Burke
5. Dara Whelan
6. John Daly
7. Daniel O Flaherty
8. Ryan Roche
9. Ciaran Mulhern
10. Antoine o Laoi
11. Liam Costello
12. Shane McGrath
13. Brian Mannion
14. Colm Costello
15. Dessie Conneely

16. Pearse Greally/Eamon McGrath
17. Jack Mullen
18. Dara Walsh
19. Padraic Costello
20. Vinny Gill
21. Diarmud Kilcommins
22. Evan Nolan
23. Jack Nolan
24. Cian Monaghan
25. Colin Murray
26. Conor Heneghen

Not sure how Mountbellew didn't win that game. I'd say they missed 2-04 in injury time alone in the second half.

Johnny Heaney best player on show in Salthill today across the two games. Still can't see Kilannin springing any surprises in the later rounds of this championship. They don't have the forwards to trouble the big hitters.

Surely boland from mb has to be brought back into the panel. Brilliant shot stopper and his kick outs are the best I've seen in a long time.

back up goalies always a thorny one as difficult to get released if part of panel and wihout league games you can struggle for sharpness.one other thing to bear in mind- there are always call outs for different players to be called in but not everybody willing/in a position to committ. i love my football but unless a large organisation for pr purposes ,couldnt employ an inter county player.

Dessie should be given a chance with Galway again and I dont mean in a blustery league game against Donegal in January think he should be bought in and given a few games. Standout player in club champo. Has any player stood out that is not in with PJ already or has been in. Only dara walsh possibly from kilanin?

Walsh isn't even the standout midfielder at killanin.

Roche looks a serious player powerful and similar to Maher back in 2022.

I don't think Walsh will get enough time he requires at IC level.

Would agree on Roche. Covered every blade of grass in Salthill on Saturday. Powerful on the ball and good in the air. Walsh has the more natural footballing talent but I'd have Roche in a county setup much quicker.

Fair to say Dessie has been in a league of his own, the two pointer to level the game was the standout moment in the championship. Would be great addition to have him back in the team next year.

I did see Roche against Moycullen and thought he was the best player on show behind Dessie and definitely worth a look. Any club goalie having a decent campaigh I know Flaherty is outfield for ClareGalway
