We played great yesterday. No point trying to make sense of results as you'll go mad.
It's nothing new this year e.g. We push Offaly all the way and they go beat Kildare and gain promotion. We kicked some great scores but also plenty of wides. I lost count of how many goal scoring opportunities we created yesterday with one put away. We had Sligo backs in a spin but we just can't hit the knock out punch.
Sligo had about 4 chances and scored 2 and with relative ease to be fair to them. They just seemed more efficient but we should have been out of sight. A funny game.
But we showed great heart, fitness and it will stand to us.

Ideally we go and try and beat Tipp by the 10 to keep us alive our side but first and foremost, just get the win and get that monkey off the back..ie no win in 12 months. I think back to a league game we had to win by 8 to stay up and lost to them so we must approach them like Sligo, Mayo game.

After two games we have the worst scoring record in the teacup, followed closely by Longford

A good performance against Tippeary and start preparation for 2026, Poacher can go to championship games and identify lads with potential to join the panel for 2026 he can talk to fellas that stepped away and see if they plan to come back in, he will have a proper pre season and he doesn't strike me as a fella that will be waiting around for the official date to go back training.

We will be in a division were I think we can ve very competitive, the likes of Cox, Prior, McNulty, Guickan will be very hard watched at that level.

2025 was a bad year, we will draw a line thru it take the few positives and drive on hard for next year.
It's not all doom and gloom.

A fair take on matters. To be fair, Poacher was dealt a bad card after two managers stepped away in as many months. I've said my piece about the league, I'm prepared to mark the card and see what 2026 brings. But overall something has to change culturally... otherwise what's the point? Do we really want to go the way of Kilkenny footballers? I hope not.

No we don't and I dont think we will go the way of kilkenny....we are producing good footballers, but
I agree there needs to be serious questions asked of the people running Leitrim football. I can't get my head around how we haven't started the league yet for example.

Hopefully that won't happen! I mean, you don't have a hurling team to totally focus on like Kilkenny anyway, even though hurling is on the rise in the county, and your hurling team has arguably given you far better days out in 2025 than your footballers.

Don't fret, though! I've no doubt that 'poor ould Leitrim' will continue to entertain us all well in football in 2026 and in the years beyond!

Just as much as Roscommon do!
