How have I gone back The Fridge? No bias from me if Tyrone Mayo or Kerry have done what we've done the last six years I'd have their players on the team. For posters not to have Connolly on their team is again laughable. Talent wise, no question he is good enough, but performances in big games, not for me. I agree with many in saying you are completely biased towards your own county and fail to recognise the credentials of other top forwards people have chosen. Connolly? nope SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts:1076 - 16/12/2016 12:24:27 Man of the Match in the All-Ireland Semi-Final 2013. Kicked three points and had a very good all round game in this years semi-final. Played well without scoring in the finals of 2011 and 2015 imo. Got through a mountain of work both days. Even in the replay this year he scored one great point and showed great composure to bury the penalty. Also in the drawn game he set up the second goal with a sensational pass in towards Rock. He's had more of an impact in these big games than he is sometimes given credit for I think. I take your overall point but I think it's a little harsh on him to say he goes missing towards the end of the championship. Alan Brogan was for me a big game player who would make my forward line ahead of Connolly. In two or three years tome who knows, perhaps Connolly will have done enough to convince me. I don't understand the mind set of people who genuinely get offended or wound up by people's team of the decade, team of the year, All star awards and so on. What's the big deal ? Personally, It's all about the Dubs winning games and in turn, titles. I'd guess the players themselves (not just Dubs) don't care, Most probably aren't even aware that Pat Spillane named his team of the decade, 12 months ago and people are still debating it. If the players couldn't give a toss, why do so many insist on making it anti-Dublin, Anti-whoever thing ? It's not, It's just a 60-odd year old man sharing his opinion. And its gas, most of the people complaining about it wouldn't take anything Spillane says seriously on the SG, until it comes to something stupid like this then they treat his word like the absolute be all and end all. It seems they same peoples life is caving in around them when they read this stuff. Seriously, Do people here honestly and truly believe Diarmuid Connolly, Alan Brogan or Bernard Brogan sit at home on these nights infront of the fire, looking at their 4 intercounty All Ireland medals, endless amount of Leinsters, league titles and in diarmuids cause, club honours and think we've won so much, If only I was in Pat Spillane's team of the decade. come on now, seriously lads, will ye get real? Should have added that Connolly was Dublin's best player in defeat to Donegal in 2014. Alan Brogan is an odd one I would've thought that Connolly's big game performances were as good as Alan's. I'm a big fan of both players though. Bernard on the other hand is probably the best big game forward that Dublin have ever produced. Ok I'll give this a go: Cluxton Marc Graham Canty Tom O'Sullivan Tomas Lee Keegan Philip Jordan Darragh Sean Cavanagh Paul Galvin Declan O'Sullivan Brian Dooher Gooch Star B. Brogan Can't find a place for Michael Murphy but he would be No 1 on the bench. A bit Kerry heavy but the 2004-20009 team were incredible and IMO the best team we've seen so far this century. Connolly clearly divides opinion hence only the 2 All Stars given the amount of success he's had the last 6 years. He's the most gifted player of his generation but has disappointed me overall with his performances, he still has time on his side to put that right.
