One of the main reasons the Dubs have won 4 of the last 6 is their strength in depth, their bench has made a huge difference to finals during that time.

I'd only have Cluxton from Dublin in my best 15.

Yeah I always thought he was a very good midfielder. Man of the match in the All-Ireland final if memory serves.

In anyways it's just a throw away list. There are plenty of players that could be included.

With the advent of the qualifiers plus more League games on TV in the last 15 years there have been plenty of players that have impressed over the years.

I'd agree with those suggesting Barry Owens, as I think that was the outstanding fullback of the last 15 years. If he'd been born in Kerry and less cursed with injuries, he'd have 5-6 all stars instead of the still very impressive 2 that he won with Fermanagh.

I'd also agree with those arguing for Bernard Brogan over Peter Canavan. Canavan would be the first name on my team of the last 25 years, but his prime was 1993-1996. Yes, he was still outstanding in the 00s, but I'd suggest that Brogan would be more deserving in that era.

There are 6-7 names that would be certainties for me, while the rest could be strongly debated. In my opinion, any credible side would feature S.Cluxton, K.McGeeney, K.Lacey, T.O'Se, S.Cavanagh, B.Brogan and C.Cooper. Beyond that, I think that you could reasonably argue the case for 20-30 other outstanding footballers to fill the remaining places.

The only reason why anyone would pick B Brogan ahead of Joyce is because he split the 90's and 00's. Joyce was a superior player to Brogan, Joyce had far more to his game than Brogan does.

Joyce is easily the best player to come out of Connacht the last 30 years.

If your picking a number 15 between Bernard or Joyce in their pomp it's Brogan every single time , yes maybe Joyce had more to his game from a passing or dribbling stand point but Bernard was the most lethal Corner Forward of the the last ten years bar Cooper. Joyce was class but after his first 3 years which were outstanding he never hit them same heights again.

All that happened to Darren Fay this century was getting absolutely destroyed by Ray Cosgrove in the Leinster Semi in 02. The Kilmacud man danced round Fay all afternoon and the Meath man barely got laid a finger on him.

If we're talking about the 90s then I'd have Fay in there no doubt but not in this century he was a pale shadow of his former self so much so that he let Cosgrove lead him a merry dance round Croker that faithful day.

He played well after but nowhere near the same standard. Bernard destroyed teams well before 2011 and to just say he ran amok in Leinster is laughable. Take off your Mayo hatred for Dublin glasses. Bernard Brogan after Gooch is the most lethal corner forward the last ten years.

Joyce was a great player no doubt about it doh, but for number 15 it's Bernard every time.

All Spillane is trying to do here is that stupid "Team of the Decade" argument he was drumming on about a few years back. He still has a wasp in his jocks over Tyrone. The fact is that Kerry were beaten by Tyrone in every major game they played in during the 00s. Kerry now have the upper hand over them again and are a scary prospect in the next few seasons but for the noughties Tyrone were the bosses.
