There's a big difference between all matches that were shown being on free to air, and all matches being shown on free to air.

The first part of that was true once upon a time, when free to air was the only show in town, and no alternatives existed. Any match being shown had to be shown on free to air because there was no other way of showing it.

But there was never a time when all matches were shown free to air. Even now, with so many alternatives available, it's still the case that not all matches are shown.

And what people often overlook is that RTE still show as many or more live matches now as they ever did. Somewhere in the order of 30 to 35 a year. Same as they did before the first deal with Sky Sports in 2014, and about ten more than they used to show up to about five years before that. And TG4 are still showing as many or more games as they ever did as well.

GAA GO etc. are not taking matches that were previously free to air and putting them behind a paywall. Instead, they're showing matches that otherwise wouldn't be shown at all. The TV companies can't be made buy the rights for them, and the GAA can't be expected to give the rights away for free. It baffles me how some people still don't understand this and instead long for a misremembered utopia that never actually existed at all.

At the same time, we have a chance of making a semi-final if things run to form up to that point."
There is absolutely zero chance of Ireland being in a semi final. They will calve.

Whatever about calves, we need to find a few bulls or our scrum will be the end of us.

I do know rugby. But Gibson Park isnt by a distance our best player.
Casey isnt that far behind him. You havent said how or why Gibson Park is clearly our best player?

Thats just misleading and trolling. its still free to air. that you have to pay for a tv licence still doesnt mean RTE isnt free to air
