Replying To yew_tree:  "Mayo have a split personality. Excellent first half and a shambles of a second half. Win is a win though. Up Mayo !"
Gave up at least 8 legitimate goals chances.

Any decent team would have beat them out of sight.

Replying To letsgetgoing:  "Group 2A ( winners group)
4 Matches on 13th/14th June
Winners go directly the quarter final with a two week break.
Losers of these four matches go into round 3 with only a 1 week break.
Teams: Armagh, Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Tyrone, Louth, Westmeath, Mayo.

Group 2B ( losers group)
4 Matches on 13th/14th June.winners
Winners play one week later in round 3.
Losers are out of the championship having lost two games in a row.
Teams: Kerry, Roscommon, Dublin, Derry, Monaghan, Meath, Cavan, Kildare.

Round 3
4 Matches on 20th/21st June.
Round 2A Losers v Round 2B Winners
4 Winners into the quarter finals the following week.
Losers out having lost twice.

The Winners of Group 2A having won two matches in a row have a big advantage not having to play round 3 and have a two week break before the All Ireland quarter finals on 27th/28th June.
Following the alternative routes of 2A/3 or 2B/3 and playing the quarter final will mean playing 3 matches in consecutive weeks. (against a team that skipped round 3)"
Thanks for that.
Well explained.

A pretty convoluted system but its been a good championship so far.

The hopeless full back line will be their undoing

Yea if Mayo didn't have a goalie Monaghan could indeed have scored 6 goals

A lot of lads inexperienced at senior level playing for us today. Poor in the second half but we managed to hold out a tight game, which is rare.

Unfortunately I'd have to agree. Way too open. From a Mayo point for view we watch every game now with a tinge of sadness knowing Kobes days are numbered.

Yeah I think most teams will fancy themselves against us. Unusually Mayos best line is our full forward line .

I thought Livingston was excellent today in goal for us. Saved our bacon.

Hope the draw on Tuesday morning throws up:

Monaghan v Cavan in Clones
Meath v Kildare in Navan
Roscommon v Derry in The Hyde
Dublin v Kerry in Croker

That'd be my ideal draw.

12 by my count it was comical some of the misses by Monaghan but to be fair to the debut keeper he earned that one point win for Mayo. Hopefully a Galway v Mayo match next would be a real tasty affair.

Replying To Gaa_lover:  "What's the expectations for this weekend four senior games. Teams in the long grass most certainly have the advantage but are some of them good enough to take advantage as Tyrone,Donegal did last week?

Derry v Armagh extra time a strong possibility here and real banana skin for Armagh but I think McGeeneys men will edge it.

Louth v Dublin. Louth surely can't be as poor as they were the last game v Dublin? I think Croke Park will be a help than a hindrance for them and I think Louth to win by a 1 or 2.

Westmeath v Cavan. Main question here is where are Westmeath minds and bodies after the celebrations of winning Leinster. Cavan always have one big performance in them as seen last year in Castlebar. A tough one to call once more a slight nod to Westmeath

Monaghan v Mayo. Would expect a big response by Mayo after a long lay off and hard to see Monaghan pick the heads up after putting so much into winning the home Ulster final. Mayo by 4 points."
Good calls, had you any money on those 4 to win?

Its not a completely open draw. Teams who met in provincial finals can't be paired together. I think its just galway that can't play roscommon.
