€78 Million Fitzgerald Stadium Makeover - A GAA Priority?

Replying To GaryMc82:  "Don't overstate it, the Inter-county game could probably be run using 8 - 12 top class stadiums across the 4 provinces if the GAA really wanted to be cost efficient. The average standard of our grounds is really poor when compared to other Countries. I'm not just on about size and style, but even just basic facilities like toilets or roofs/shelter."
What other countries have a comparable amateur organisation like the GAA and have stadiums across the country like the GAA, I think you are trying to compare with professional sport like soccer which take in billions each year.
Although anyone thinking of spending 78m in Kerry needs their head examined.

Thurles is badly in need of an upgrade, using the toilets there at half-time has safety standards similar to Pampaloma with bulls on the prowl. One tiny toilet for thousands and thousands of people.
Also, Portlaoise or somewhere that can attract neutral games should be a priority.

Replying To BlueBeret:  "It would be a shocking disgrace to put that sort of money into Kerry. The locals won't ever fill it and it too far put of the way to be wanted by any county as a neutral venue.
Stick with Cork, Thurles and Limerick in Munster and ignore the political motivation of a huge pink elephant of a tadium in Kerry."
The cork boys love going to kilarney for a munster final. You will get them there quicker than you will to pairc ui caoimh.

Replying To Seanfan:  "They played 2 NFL games there this year.
A new decent stand needed there plus terrace behind one of the goals."
If comparing Fitzgerald Stadium to the other 32 primary County grounds in Ireland, allowing for current Total capacity, current seating capacity, current roofed capacity and proximity to other large Stadiums, it shouldn't qualify for this level of GAA funding or Government funded revamp ahead of other Counties and Provinces.
