Big call. If he was unsure it would have been easier to keep going so a brave decision
I have heard interviews with John Meyler about how the semi loss in 2018 still haunts him and hope Ryan can move on - the pressure on these guys, more or less amateur, is incredible.
I think there may be some some stuff yet to come out about the final.
It's Cork and there will be no shortage of candidates but what an incredibly tough job to take on. I do think it's a set back for them and good for the pack

All the best to pat Ryan in whatever he does in the future.he has left cork in a better place and always came across as a very honest and genuine fella..

Canuck, my comment was not intended as a poor refection on you or Bon. Au contraire, your discussion was very informative...about Waterford club hurling. My reflection has more to do with the dearth of Cork comment on here. No doubt they'll be back buzzing likes bees now, as there is plenty to agitate them. However, will they, as usual lack the sting?

I liked Pat Ryan. As a few others have said, an honorable man and a straight talker.

Any truth in the online posts that a few CK reg cars have been seen around the village of Ballyhale over the past week or so? It wouldn't be Cork's first time to bring in an outsider, you know. An outsider might toughen them up a bit, especially that Shamrock's man.

By all accounts the Cork County board requested Pat to stay on in the Cork hot seat for at least a fourth year, that in itself was giving him a huge vote of confidence in preparing the Cork senior hurling team for another attempt to challenge for the games highest honour.
Perhaps as you alluded to by saying the semi final loss of 2018 and couple that with the loss of 2025 final was too much for him.
You are correct when you say the pressure on these guys more or less amateurs is incredibly.
I believe Cork hurling is in limbo at the moment, however its also possible there may or may not be any problem, is it possible that the wheels genuinely came off the Cork wagon in the second half and irreparable damage was done before a a real and worthwhile fix could be made made.
Just a thought.

They might be stopping for petrol. It is cheap around Ballyhale.

Cody is the only decent manager in Kilkenny

Ah stop, his tenure over in Galway wasn't exactly a very convincing one. He'd be Kilkenny manager now had he had a bit of patience. Anyhow... I'd be shocked if it happened.

Cork will not bring in an outside manager no more than Kilkenny or Tipp will. Cody is a Kilkenny man first and last. These outside managers are a bad idea. There is avoid when they move on. No attachment to the county or its future. Davy has managed to get Antrim relegated. Henry set Galway back and were better this year under their own guy. It will take at least another year or two to put things back on track. He did nothing worth talking about in Dublin who were better again this year. Looking at the shinny object by counties has failed over and over. Limerick got one of the greatest teams in history with a Limerick man driving the bus. Anything we won at senior, minor or U21 was with Waterford men in charge.

CK reg??? Where is that?? Cork reg plates are just C so don't know where you're getting your "information" from. It's obviously fake news and you fell for it. Either that or you just made it all up to sound like you're in the know. Either way I'm scarlet for you. Thanks.
