Landed back from holidays yesterday morning to a text message from a supplier offering 2 corporate tickets! Had to bring the wife I guess so left the children with their grandad and off we went.
Good start, but like the rest of the country thought that was it once the red card happened. I don't think its being bias to say having played the game in the 80's and 90's you would get 5-6 elbows a game as well as hurls and I remember going down holding my face once and that was with a broken jaw. Modern players are all going down to get opponents sent off and it might be me but I don't know how you could look in the mirror if you cheated the referee to get an opponent sent off. Yes Crummey gave him a decision to make like Richie Hogan did but there is no way the contact was anything other than minimal. I know he got away with one v Wexford on Chin but Chin got straight up and made no issue of it like a proper man would. Where do we want players to play if not on the edge?
But the 14 men upped their effort and I was waiting for the inevitable onslaught from Limerick but it never came. I was waiting for Limerick to get a goal at the end but we held tight.
I sort of shrugged my shoulders at the start of the year when Eoghan O'D left the panel but sometimes if it is all about 1 player and he disappears others step up and we had some phenomenal leaders all over the pitch.
I was shouting and roaring in the corporate box which might not be cricket but I wasn't going to not help the players on no matter what. The others were shouting on Dublin by the end!
I hope CC gets his red card rescinded but I doubt it will be. Far from hitting Coppers I met a relation of a player for breakfast this morning and he said they were all home early and know AISF's dont come around often.
Still buzzing today, have sat through some great days with my adopted Wexford so it was great to have one of my own every 12 years or so!
Cork inevitably favourites for the semi but I think Limerick underestimated us and hopefully they will too.
As an aside, I was listening to Off The Ball on the way from the airport yesterday and they didn't even discuss the match for one minute, Gary Kirby and some other man I didn't get his name were on. It was clearly a formality."
Elbowing an opponent in the head region is not playing in the edge. It's reckless, careless, not like CC but he did it and deserved red

We have to watch matches Sunday if they start at 4pm or later. Gf is from Tipp and we were going to skip the 1st match. We said we would watch 1st 15 min. Almost skipped it after the red card, but kept watching. Dublin just never went away and made it happen.
Red card was frankly pathetic. Anyone who ever played the game knows a hit like that happens all the time. It was stupid but I detest players getting the opponent sent off. But Hegarty and particularly Peter Casey every time they get the ball they are looking for frees if there is nothing on. He is looking for something to wrap himself around.
Delighted for the Dubs and hope the red card is rescinded. Should we not be re showing these incidents to referees on a screen?
Galway, Galway, Galway. Never before has a team promised so much and delivered so little. Tipp won at their leisure"
You clearly never played if you think an elbow to the head is acceptable

I know I shouldn't be posting after a feed of drink, but I was there yesterday, with my Dublin children, I'm involved with a Dublin club and was so delighted for the Dublin hurling population. It's small but growing. This was coming. I think Limerick's 16 point defeat of Cork and the praise the media were so quick to heap on them was misplaced. An amazing team, but on the slide and vulnerable. Hunger and youth are game changers, and bringing Hetherton on at Half time!

Btw, can't see that red card rescinded. Watched it back today, and even though Hegarty made a meal of it, the elbow was up

Congratulations to Dublin.

Beating Limerick with 14 men is up there with the greatest upsets of all time. Right from the off Dublin were hungrier. There fielding was excellent and we can do in Limerick is lick our wounds and take our hats off to them to everyone involved in Dublin Hurling and wish them well for the rest of the Championship

As regards the Crummy red card, per the letter of the law it was a red card and it is the type of red card you would typically get from Flash Gordon, Johnny Red Card our old Clare friend moonlighting as a Dub Sean Stack.

However if James Owens, Tyler Walsh or Colm Lyons (depending on what County you are) were refereeing the match it is likely a yellow at best. On this basis I think Dublin should appeal it and see if they can get Crummy back for the semi final.

Best of Luck all four teams left in Championship. We will be back. Luimneach abu

I agree… it's not easy to get a red card rescinded. Ryan didn't even try to get Barrett's red card from Clare game overturned. Dublin played better after sending off, and it galvanized them. Morrissey was under pressure from Dublin full forward Hetherton, and the 2 goals were well taken. I wouldn't be surprised to see Damien Cahalane introduced at full back, with Eoin Downey and O' Donoghue flanking him.Cork will have to match Dublin's hunger and bring their best game against Conor Burke and co.

Agree with that. Was thinking Hetherton would be a serious assignment for Eoin. Cahalane the right boy for him

I don't know if that is true, James Owens sent Richie Hogan off for a very similar one.
Gearoid Hegarty is a big man and went down, the medical team arrived and so did the red card. Once it had all happened, he was up and at it. Job done.
I think the problem ultimately is that its a contact sport and unless we totally go down the road of soccer where everybody is out to get somebody sent off at the smallest opportunity I think we need players to be honest about the level of contact and whether they are hurt or not.
I played hurling long before a helmet was even mandatory. I wore a helmet without a face guard and it was beaten time and time again and as I said the only time I went down injured was when I got my jaw broken. The helmet was hit in every match.
Now, players go down like they are shot at any touch to the helmet. This is for one reason and one reason only, to get an opponent either booked or sent off.
Is that the game we want?

I hope you're not coaching or training a team if you think Crummey's tackle was remotely acceptable, what was he thinking? It's not going to achieve anything except what it did. There's zero chance of it being rescinded and rightly so. An elbow to the head in any sport is red
