Replying To S1234:  "Ah will you give over. What were Mayo county board supposed to do ? McStay and Co were given 10 days to resign with dignity and go on their own terms. They refused to go when asked 3 times . We did what we had to do McStay and co have brought us backwards .
Stop being a bunch of snowflakes . Maybe your all just worried that we are finnally getting our s*** together!
You wanted Dessie gone a number of times. Grow up and maybe concentrate on your own team cause God only knows you need to .... !"
I agree 100%….. Mc Stay did nothing in his time as manager and if the county board wanted change and he was too stubborn to take the hint then they were left with no option but to sack him…. They took the proper course of action…!

I couldnt give a flying fig about Mayo football tbh but there is a thing called respect, and even more so when someone is ill.

If you dont realise that, then it says more about you than me tbh....
Look if that is how you roll, so be it.

Of course they are 2 different scenarios but the majority of Mayo people I know, and even ex Mayo players also felt the wording was very harsh.

But a time and a place, and what goes around comes around.
IMO Mayo CB didnt cover themselves in glory with the wording - whether the decision needed to be made or not.
No respect was shown in it.

BTW - I think the decision was probably correct - but I do NOT agree with the wording - and if that makes me a snowflake, then so be it. Let is snow, let it snow, let it snow.... ;o)

We did respect him county board gave him 10 days to go out on his own terms and he refused. They also thanked him sincerely for efforts and time . What more do you people want ? .
Ex Mayo players who are now pundits and doing and saying what rte want them to say.
Nothing wrong with the wording. What where county board supposed to do lie ?
Of course the decision was right. What do you mean what goes around comes around ? You'd swear we committed a massive crime or something!
Dublin or Kerry wouldn't hesitate to get rid of McStay & Co if it was the other way around!
What other wording would you have used so ?

As I said stop being such a snowflake !!

"They refused to go when asked 3 times" Not true the decision was made on the spot by the Mayo county board that they weren't going to fulfill the agreed 4 year term. McStay and co found out like everyone else with that crass statement was published.

It's fairly clear who the few "yokes" are on this thread who have no value for nothing & no-one.

Can Ger train the team or is it just match day activity he is banned from?

Strictly speaking, when you're suspended, you're suspended from all GAA activity. So if you're a team manager or coach, you're not even supposed to be at training sessions.

But in reality.....you know yourself..... ;)

Hard to believe this thread is buried in the bowels of Hoganstand.
Jarlath Burns is not correct in saying a ref. has the final word on an incident in my opinion.
Plenty of precedent to illustrate that evidence not noticed by a ref. can be used to reexamine a situation.

Indeed. Including when certain presenter decides that TSG ought to have a say.

It is unfortunate that some are pitching this as anti Jim thing by Dublin. I suppose that's the way it comes across simplistically.

Two wrongs do not make a right. McGuinness wouldn't merit a ban either, certainly not a long one. Ref did deal well with the Donegal/Kerry stuff imho.

fair play to Ger, he complied 100% with the disproportionate penalty imposed on him.
Good guy, I wish him well on Sunday.
