And rightly so. Look at the fare and attendances to match. KK and Galway had 8000, you would have had 50000 in Ennis last Sunday if we could have accommodated it

You wouldn't fill anywhere if there was 80% chance of reaching quarter finals!

Nor would the games be so intense. Kilkenny support probably rightly convinced their championship starts in semi final and never seen Galway at such low ebb.

We need to improve our team. People will follow it then.
Same as for Limerick and Clare and Waterford. I can remember Munster championship games in the 90s and 00s with only a few thousand supporters from all 3 of those counties.
Even Tipp and Cork have had poor enough attendances when they were going badly. Hardly anyone from Tipp in Semple last year for the game against yourselves. Barely anyone following the 2016 Cork team either, there were barely a few thousand of them in Semple Stadium when we beat them in a 2nd round qualifier.
At the end of the day for most counties if they have a period of relative success the supporters will come out and back their team. Problem for Kilkenny is that relative success means winning AIs. They must be the worst supported county in Ireland that way.

Its mad to think now but back in 2010 there was only 22000 at a Munster final replay between Cork and Waterford.

Kilkenny are going six in a row Leinster titles this year and their 11th since 2010, their fans don't seem to show interest in the Leinster championship (rightly or wrongly) as Kilkenny are well ahead of the rest when it comes to winning Leinster titles.

Kilkenny fans only seem to get going around the AI semi-final stage.

Munster games are an occasion and a day out for the fans as all five teams feel they can beat one another on any given day and every match is a real do or die game.

That was a good game too, some goal from Dan at the death.

The history of Munster attendances show that this is a crest of a wave thing, not a long-term trend.

They have always had better crowds than Leinster. Just at the moment it is phenomenal. That said, Thurles had plenty of space on Sunday?

Wexford would have as many bandwagoners as most of the Munster counties when going well. The 2 Leinster finals we were in in the last 8 years had more at them than any Munster final in 50 or more years.

In fairness, that's likely due to the greater capacity of Croke Park compared to Thurles. I'm sure some recent Munster finals could easily have had 60K plus, if the space allowed for it.

No arguments there Viking66.

Unbelievable that Hetherton wasn't nominated for hurler of the week.

I only saw the Dublin v Wexford over the weekend, so can't give a fair judgement. But, Hetherton had a great game.

He, like Dublin hurling, is not fashionable enough. Those picking the HOTW didn't even watch any other match other than the 2 in Munster.

Sure he's been one of the top players in dublin for many years now, the guy is lethal.

My God Exiled, that's some amount of resentment you're harboring when it comes to Munster hurling and the coverage of same. I was in Parnell Park on Saturday evening and it was easily the best hurling match of the weekend, a match Dublin thoroughly deserved to win, although I was surprised at how small and light the Wexford defenders were, which obviously, led to Dublin repeatedly going route 1 and making hay.
I wouldn't take too much stock in what 'pundits' say either, they've all got their own agendas, however I will say this; Munster hurling - whether you like or not - is the Golden Goose at the moment and until that wains or Leinster Hurling (outside of KK) starts winning AI's again, it will remain so for the foreseeable.
BTW - I think Dublin have a great chance of reaching Leinster. You would imagine the winners of Galway/Dublin meets KK in the final.

We had a back 6 whose average age was around 23. Conor Foley is 21, think Eoin Ryan might be too.
