The odds and papers did not give Waterford any chance. Kiely made the difference but Bennett is a hurling phenomenon. Nolan some good stops. Gleeson looks very heavy. A long ways to go in this championship yet.

Plenty of hurling still to be done yet in Munster.

Limerick next Saturday in Walsh Park if we are to have any chance of making it out. Tony the engine room and O'Donnell a hugh loss to Clare today. Like Barron things get in motion around Kelly.

I got it wrong for us. It is Tipp next apparently. I am out of the country and just following remotely. It definitely is good for hurling if Waterford build on this. It is backs against the wall now for Clare.

No, no, there couldn't possibly have been a decent match in Leinster this weekend.....

Was in Walsh Park yesterday very disappointed for Clare but Waterford fully deserved win no excuses from Clare well beaten at end. Best of luck to the Deice going forward in a a great position I think 2 points on Board another home game Limerick beware WD are a good side big physical team able to hurl

Quick one for the Clare lads, what's the story with the Clare jerseys? They've wore 3 different jerseys this year. Wore the new one for the league, wore last years one v Cork and wore different one again v Waterford yesterday. It's only a small thing but it's very odd Throughthemidfieldhewasstormin (Wexford) - Posts: 312 - 28/04/2025 11:22:12 2604927 Link 0 |
Its hard to know what to make of Clare so far as defending AI champions. A very poor league campaign (5 losses and just 1 win in 6 games) including an awful hammering from Cork. Followed up by an extremely poor first half in Ennis last weekend and while there was a very spirited come back in the second half its hard to imagine there would have been anything other than a 7/8 point win for Cork if it wasn't for the sending off of Shane Barrett. And for all that it could still have been a Clare win if it wasn't for poor game management in the final play where D Mac gave the ball away and then Clare needlessly fouled Ciaran Joyce when he was surrounded by 4 players. mr305 (Galway) - Posts: 51 - 28/04/2025 11:30:27 2604935 Link 0 |
Watching the matches yesterday I was very impressed with Waterford. They are a very strong physical team and the pressure they put on Clare in the tackle yesterday was next level. Its no mean feat to do Clare, what Clare normally do to other teams. Clare didn't play poorly Peter Duggan and Shane Meehan were excellent however Stephen Bennett and Jamie Barron really rolled back the years yesterday and Waterford were full value for their win. We in Clare haven't the in-depth talent to cope 4 players missing from our all Ireland final day that's our main problem Brian Lohan gave game time to a lot of players with only limited return as well as that some players from last year not motoring well . We are not offering excuses though and Waterford fully deserved there win. On the Adam Hogan incident he is a fine player has won a lot for somebody so young he's a niggly corner back but I would say not dirty but I hope he's embarrassed by his simulation yesterday it will bring trouble on him & Clare it has to stop its creeping into the GAA now for quiet a while. A Waterford back tried a simulation too

I agree with you about simulation, Clooney, but it wasn't confined to the Waterford-Clare game yesterday.

I doubt he's embarrassed by it, not his first time at it.

Clooney fair play fro calling out one of your own..as you said he's not only one at it but he makes it look to obvious..some of ours have done it,I've seen tipp, cork and killkenny doing it.Waterford yesterday.. CTGAA10 (Limerick) - Posts: 2499 - 28/04/2025 13:49:18 2605006 Link 0 |
If its a winner take all in Limerick last game can you imagine the atmosphere it would be like an All Ireland two poor games really yesterday and I hope that two things might be learned by all (1) Cut out looking for soft frees & Simulation (2) Cut out the getting to know you before throw in at games & when subs come on I have fancied Waterford this year they have been plagued by injuries last couple of years beware them when ye go to Walsh Park clooney (Clare) - Posts: 982 - 28/04/2025 13:58:33 2605012 Link 1 |
Always liked Clare but the play acting is turn off. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3464 - 28/04/2025 14:43:07 2605043 Link 0 |
There should be retrospective bans for simulation.

I fear the simulation it's here to stay. You won't be able to put the genie back in the bottle. I used to love the soccer here in England. But with the incessant simulation and cheating I'm not as interested now. I hate seeing it creeping in hurling. I think the only way to stop it is for the coaches and counties to deal with it internally. Making it clear to the players that it is unacceptable.
