Kiely made the difference but Bennett is a hurling phenomenon. Nolan some good stops. Gleeson looks very heavy. A long ways to go in this championship yet. Quick one for the Clare lads, what's the story with the Clare jerseys? They've wore 3 different jerseys this year. Wore the new one for the league, wore last years one v Cork and wore different one again v Waterford yesterday. Its hard to know what to make of Clare so far as defending AI champions. A very poor league campaign (5 losses and just 1 win in 6 games) including an awful hammering from Cork. Followed up by an extremely poor first half in Ennis last weekend and while there was a very spirited come back in the second half its hard to imagine there would have been anything other than a 7/8 point win for Cork if it wasn't for the sending off of Shane Barrett. And for all that it could still have been a Clare win if it wasn't for poor game management in the final play where D Mac gave the ball away and then Clare needlessly fouled Ciaran Joyce when he was surrounded by 4 players. Then yesterday they were comprehensively beaten by 8 points against Waterford. There is an extremely tough game game against Tipp looming next (I have been really impressed with Tipp in their opening 2 games) which is as good as win or be out of the championship. They obviously had to contend with no SOD, Tony Kelly, D Ryan yesterday but I have a feeling they will not even make it out of Munster in order to defend their title. Watching the matches yesterday I was very impressed with Waterford. They are a very strong physical team and the pressure they put on Clare in the tackle yesterday was next level. Its no mean feat to do Clare, what Clare normally do to other teams. Clare didn't play poorly Peter Duggan and Shane Meehan were excellent however Stephen Bennett and Jamie Barron really rolled back the years yesterday and Waterford were full value for their win. Its a very daunting task for Limerick heading down to Walsh Park on Saturday evening. The second match was a non event. The sending off really killed it as a contest. The way this Cork team play moving the ball so quick, you need to have 15 on the pitch, to have any hope. Baring the 10 minute spell where Cork got the the three goals I felt like Tipperary gave a good account of themselves. They moved the ball well on a number of occasions but when they looked op the field for the final pass they had no options to play it up (as they were missing the inside forwards. We are not offering excuses though and Waterford fully deserved there win. On the Adam Hogan incident he is a fine player has won a lot for somebody so young he's a niggly corner back but I would say not dirty but I hope he's embarrassed by his simulation yesterday it will bring trouble on him & Clare it has to stop its creeping into the GAA now for quiet a while. Clooney fair play fro calling out one of your own..as you said he's not only one at it but he makes it look to obvious..some of ours have done it,I've seen tipp,cork and killkenny doing it.Waterford yesterday.. Think only way it can be dealt with is player penalised for overcarrying,free given..can players be booked for it? Huge game for us this weekend and I have to admit I'm worried.was hugely impressed with Waterford in 2nd half and our boys weren't up to speed the last day..I'm dreading the last game v Clare as it could decide who gets out of Munster.. Always liked Clare but the play acting is turn off. There were big hits, borderline ott, in Parnell on both sides. Chin shipped some ferocious tackles and broke finger i think. Gave as good as he got in fairness. No one lying down. Players who dive need to get cards, including reds. Its too big a premium as Cork game showed if cheating wins. A Waterford back tried a simulation too" I fear the simulation it's here to stay. You won't be able to put the genie back in the bottle. I used to love the soccer here in England. But with the incessant simulation and cheating I'm not as interested now. I hate seeing it creeping in hurling. I think the only way to stop it is for the coaches and counties to deal with it internally. Making it clear to the players that it is unacceptable.
