The championships are so compressed week on week , middle of the road supporters haven't a chance to build up an interest . After today there June 29th there are only 3 championship games left in the 2025 championship. The Speedy Gonzales championships , over before you know it ! Around 120 adult football Chamoionship games to be played in Ros during August, September and October. 10 or 15 hurling ones too. We're a small County ( 28 football, 7 hurling clubs) so the average number per County is probably at least 200. Multiply by 32. Add in all the underage grades... At least 10,000 games.... The championship and supporters need a chance to breathe. People have to pony up serious wad of cash to follow it for 2-3 months which must put a lot of the casual fans off. Break up the season, have club windows every few weeks, it gives supporters a chance to refill their bank balance before going again. Finishing off the 5 Divisions of the County Leagues. Finals early to mid July. Chance for Club players to take a holiday and then back refreshed for the 4 adult Championships.
