Beaten by a far better team on the day. Not many positives tbh, kickouts really poor, we were torn to shreds at times, porter wont want to see loughnane for a while. Coleman did well again but a pretty tame exit. Promotion seems to have taken a lot out of the group.

Well done to the lads and management on a good season! Lot of posters above seem to be forgetting we were missing 4 of our best starters from the great League run with injury this afternoon. O'Connor , Nolan, Byrne and Pettit were all huge losses.

Replying To hunting:  "Men against boys for large portions of that game. Apart from first 5 minutes and last 5 before half time. We scored I think 1 10 in total in that period. Job done in the league, poor championship. Hammered by laois, struggled against Longford, drew with Carlow, beaten by fermanagh, beat poor Antrim team and hammered today. There has been some great servant over the last few years who will probably retire now, but they owe wexford football nothing. Very poor wexford support up here today. Anyway on to next year.best of luck to Limerick in the semi final"
Our support was nearly as bad as it was for the NHL game up there. Both good trips away, but at least we won the hurling!
Think we peaked for the League. Also we were missing 5 likely starters for next years team yesterday. Lyons, O'Connor, Pettit, Eoghan Nolan and Tom Byrne.
Bottom line is our management and players got good experience playing div3 teams since the end of the League, we played 3 div3 sides, plus played the other team who go promoted along with us 2 more times, and they only came down from div3 last year, as did Wicklow. Newer lads like Higgins and Kinsella got good gametime due to the injuries, which would be a silver lining also when looking forward to next year. Plus all the lads will have got to see firsthand the pace they need to operate at mentally and physically to make the step up stick next year also.
And we have some good young players coming through.
Hopefully John and his backroom team stay on.

Disappointing exit.

Apart from in the league we have struggled to back up one performance after another.

We were once again far too open, the 4th goal in particular showcased it, we had just gotten back into the game with our own goal and literally all it took was one of our kickouts being punched back and they were in on goal, far too easy.

Martin O Connor was a huge loss with a serious injury, speedy recovery to him along with a few other but we have always looked far more secure at the back when he played.

It's a pity really, getting promotion was a big deal for us but we've struggled a bit since, and to think had we managed to pull of a win yesterday we would have had a game against wicklow for a place in the tailteann Cup final.

But all in all the outlook is definitely brighter than it was 12 months ago so that's all you can ask for.

Many little steps make a long journey.

Had a brilliant league, got promotion unlucky in league final had 4 goal chances, none went in,
Have gotten some experience again next years div 3 teams and it looks a very tough league but thats what we want, John and management team hopefully stay on have done very good work and will no doubt learnt a lot again playing better opposition, hopefully there wont be retirements and the squad can drive on at it again and maintain div 3 status,

If we leak goals like we have done I would not be very optimistic about staying up.
Our defence was simply shambolic.
We need to find a centre back that knows how to play the position. Teams that play us know we are vulnerable when ran at. Sorting out our six backs will obviously be a priority going forward.
More of the same and we will keep struggling.
A fit Martin O'connor will steady the ship somewhat but we need the other 5 to improve greatly.

Thing is I was hoping that next year we could be in the mix for D3 promotion and that's what the aim should be. We know what has to change and what that could also be is a different focus on the strength and fitness profile that we had for D4. We have the footballers but that's not good enough anymore with the pace the game is now played at. Let's see what the summer brings and hopefully we will see a few players put their hands up that may not have been seen under the old rules. D3 and the prospect of doing well in it may help some lads to commit a bit more.
