I just see it earlier,no prelim quarter on free to air tv next week..hurling quarters on RTÉ Saturday with tailteann semis on Sunday..
I can't see what is wrong if a county wants to stream their own game if not on any other platform..just watched minor hurling semi on tg4 and again the coverage was top class and a brilliant game.
A lot of people aren't in a position to travel to games, give them the option of being able to watch their own county on free to air or on some stream that is available.

Spillane wanting to raise his profile lol? He is probably the most famous face in the country when it comes to football and has been that way for nigh on 50 years now.

He'll be soon able to have a free tv licence btw so I'm sure he's speaking as someone who knows people of his era might not be tech savvy and wouldn't have the knowledge of obtaining gaapaywall to see the games"

Meanwhile the rest of us just get on with it and help others to get on with it. Progress doesn't stop and should never stop for the few.

There's local radio of course but not much use if you want to hear a Kerry game in the car and you're up the country"
That is mad! Incentive to be practicing the gaeilge!

I found the local radio can be got on any internet radio app so there's one way at least if you have network coverage

Contention. Slower moving because there's more users trying to access the server at the same time.

GAA+ had 3 cameras at the game. One for close ups. One for a wider angle and one behind one of the goals.
It is true however that some of the games I watched back had just the one camera.
I would imagine that as the knockout stages are with us now we will see GAA+ using multi cameras."
Further update -- Watched game Limerick and Wexford on GAA+ very poor camera work. Wide angle one camera job. No analysis whatsoever and of course loads of ads. It seems that GAA+ will have multi cameras for games involving the Sam Maguire contenders with full analysis before, half time and after. Poor camera coverage and second rate Commentator is what they give us for the Tailteen Cup. They charge €11.99 for both competitions but there is a vast difference in the service they provide between the two tournaments.
If they charged say €8.00 0r € 9.00 for the lesser competitions I would accept and regard it as fair but to ask us to fork out the full price for a lesser service is mean and wrong.
So Kew I am now agreeing with you regarding GAA +. I was incorrect saying in my earlier post that they always used at least two cameras. They don't.
I was basing it on the games I had viewed and what they said on their website.

The quality of the Galway Armagh game was pretty ropey at times. Looks like a bad video from the 1980s

I was at game but watched back on phone so didn't really notice. Didn't seem to be much half time analysis though! "Can you see Galway doing anything this half. No" well I hope ye all can see now & that's the reason all the 2 seeds terrified to draw Galway today.

I see RTE made a joke of 'televising' the draw again this morning, they keep the camera on the presenter while they are drawing the balls from bowls that aren't shown.

Still a lot of breaks which is not great when you are paying for something. I thought it was my laptop but was watching second half of Dublin/Derry in club bar after getting back from Newbridge and same thing. Happened 3 or 4 times.

Panels are generally good mind you. Much better than TSG including the main woman.

The highlights programme on RTÉ is superficial and boring. Whelan's first comment on Donegal/Mayo was something to do with Mayo and "chaos."

May God forgive whoever coined that one. It's been kicked around the park more times than a burst football.

I find myself constantly batting for RTE at times and I have no skin in the game, but their coverage is generally very good. People whinge about everything all the time. Nothing is good enough for sports fans. It's a strange phenomenon.

Can't remember what came it was recently but Peter Canavan and Tomás O'Sé were the pundits in the studio. This is like having Pele and Maradona in the studio for a soccer match and you can guarantee there were thousands of people sneering at their analysis thinking these lads haven't a clue, they don't know ball like I do.

I mean if people were able to get things in perspective they might actually enjoy it. People are desperate to find ways to make themselves angry

Canavan and O'Se are good. Generally the questions they are asked aren't so they can only work with what they got. Some presenters like giving their own opinions too which isn't great

Unless you have experience in live tv presenting and are finding obvious unprofessional errors then I wouldn't get too worked up about it.

If it's a personal dislike for whatever reason, maybe remind yourself then that not everyone has the same opinion as you and you specifically might not be the target audience for everything broadcast. Like I say, there's a context and perspective outside of your own bubble. Enjoy it for what it is
