I thought the Kildare backs gave an exhibition on how to defend without fouling. Hopefully they can repeat at the next level.

Huge congrats to everyone involved with Kildare..this hasn't happened over night and is a long time in planning..next year will be hard but it would be great to see them manage to stay in Liam mc..

And showed Carliw to be even worse than Laois.

Have you forgotten Offaly?

Out of curiosity, how many of the panel are from Naas? From my knowledge this panel has a larger spread of clubs in comparison with Kildare teams of the past."
11 from Naas on panel.

Well done to Kildare, aside from the first weekend they were by far the best team in the competition.

I thought after losing the league final and then the first round against Kerry, it was going to be same old same old for Kildare but they proved us all wrong. I think a key point in the championship was when Carlow clawed it back and pulled level with Kildare in the 2nd half, Kildare scored the next 6 points in the match and won by 6. That must have given them huge belief.

Great to see a new team get a chance to go up and try to compete in the Leinster championship. Hopefully our lads can be there or thereabouts next year.

Offaly were in 5 Leinster finals from 1901 to 1969. Them getting to Leinster finals in the 1980s wasn't a new thing. Them winning AIs was.
Kildare have never been in a Leinster SHF ever. They didnt even have a team in the Leinster Championship for many of those years. Think that's what the OP meant.

Played laois twice this year. Beat them in league in Portlaoise & relagated them to div 2 for next year.
Played them in Championship & they scored a goal with the last puck to draw with us ( don't need to go into the problems with that goal)
I would say we are the better team overall but doesn't matter as we both lost to Kildare & many congrats to them

Think 8 starters from Naas yesterday, and a couple of subs.

Well done Kildare on a great win, I thought their defence was superb. Will Newbridge be able to cope with a double header next with Kildare playing Offaly in the football!

Has worked out well for a Kildare double header.

Mighty stuff from Kildare, went to college with one of the players and is a top hurler who would have made it in any county.
But what now? Promotion to Leinster Championship and likely relegation, what does that do for them?

You'd hope Kildare can kick on in the hurling.

Their footballers are at nothing anyway, playing in the Tailteann cup.

What does it do for them? It exposes them to top-level hurling. What do you want it to do for them? Kildare are good, and there's every chance they'd beat Offaly, even Wexford on an off-day. They're big, strong, and very fit. The game against Dublin will tell a lot. I don't expect they'll win, but I don't expect them to be hammered, either. As for Laois? Sadly we're stuck at a level and have stood still as a hurling county while all around us have passed us out - Carlow, Kildare, Offaly, Westmeath, Dublin. It takes massive resources, top-class coaching, properly-channelled ambition, good leadership, and belief to harness a hurling tradition. We have very little of those ingredients and I think we're going nowhere for the next few years. We used to be a decent dual county, but now we're pretty irrelevant at both codes.

When you appointed Derek Mcgrath over your minor hurlers your Chairman thought he was getting Ken Mcgrath. You need your Board to step up and give hurling proper support. You've played in AI finals in Hurling, and won a SenIor Hurling All-Ireland.

Footballers should be the curtain raiser for the hurlers on Saturday.
