Replying To Throughthemidfieldhewasstormin:  "There in lies probably one of the biggest problems of the Wexford team over the last 11/12 years the fact so many lads taken frees. Probably only county during the 10s/20s who didn't have a set free taker like TJ, Horgan, Canning, Donal Burke etc. Forget how much Chin has improved on the frees from around 19/20 time. Mac had a the penalties for a long time before Fanning took over around 19 time. I think Cian Byrne is a very very good free taker and in time probably will take over from Chin. Young O'Brien coming up through minors is a very very good free taker and hopefully one for future."
Cian Byrne yes, not sure about O'Brien tbh. Simon Roche would be better right now.

Yes Afinestick on reflection I remember something about that all right.
So if that is the case then he can play as a week has passed since the U20 game.

O'Brien is still in 5th year in Good Counsel and is one of the best players in Ireland for his age, if not the best, but is still only a minor so we can't tell yet what he will be like at Senior level.

He is an incredible all round minor though including freetaker.

Best of luck to the hurlers as they start their Leinster Championship. Hope they can give us something to shout about. Won't book the flight home for the All-Ireland yet but hope we can have a long Summer.

Team named is more or less same as what lined out in Belfast last year apart from Cunning and McKenna that got the first goal isn't on the panel either.

Good team named. Be suprised if Lawlor plays midfield after playing well wing back. Would have been great to have Mac to bring on for last 15. Great to see Molloy starting too. Weather could even it up a small bit but we should have enough to win by 6!! Best of luck lads

Hold fire on Sean till after this Saturday.
Can't get much of a bigger test than Kilkenny away.
He is up there in the top ranks of minor hurlers along with the top 1/2 of each of the tier 1 Counties and probably a Tier 2 minor at his level somewhere aswell.
Jake Mullen from Kilkenny was equally as impressive last year as Sean and same age.
I really hope he is all you say he .

Only in and out of the their team the last few years. Not a bad player, but didn't score against us last year and was subbed off. He did look a great prospect earlier in his career though. He must be mid 30s now.

Seen him play for school and county numerous times. He's our best all round prospect in years. But I've seen him miss more scoreable frees and 65s than you would expect for a top freetaker.

Also pretty sure OBrien is only in 4th year.

I hope the wind doesn't pick up, its blustery. I'd imagine the game goes ahead

It's stopped raining here in town a while ago. Hopefully the game will go ahead.

It's not that bad in town. There was heavy rain yesterday afternoon but only really misty since and it's not raining currently. Forecast is dry until 5

Have to be happy with that considering our shaky start and the red card. Chin is an all-time great, not just for us but in the game, but it might be a concern that we were too reliant on his scoring today. All the other forwards were quiet more or less. Solid debut for Patsy, and Hearne continues to be in the top bracket of midfielders around. Lawlor and McGuickan not really mentioned on commentary so don't know how they fared in the flesh.

Wasn't a great advertisement for Jacko being a nailed-on starter though. I wouldn't be surprised if Davy pin-pointed him as someone that could be 'got at'.

Already in a far better spot than last year coming up against our recent bogey team next week.

Really happy with that performance, were terrible in the first ten minutes and were a man down from the 20th minute to around the 58th minute which makes the performance even better

Good hunger, good physicality, good intensity, very few wides, clever balls into the corner, good on the frees, good attitude

Jacko and Maskey seemed to be shaking hands after so you'd hope Antrim would be honest and admit that it wasn't a red card, only other issue outside of that was that Jack Redmond looked to injure himself just after coming on

Thought Cian Molloy was outstanding, other counties might not respect us and think we've nothing coming through but today we had five U23s starting (Molloy, Conor Foley, Eoin Ryan, Cian Byrne, and Richie Lawlor), that's a good group of players to build around
