So no Div 1 team in Championship yet. Got it.

Do you not know when to stop? Mayo got a free that many believe was not a free and a 45 that was certainly not a 45. As one of your countymen above said - although I disagree with his ref assessment - both sides got soft decisions and were on wrong side of poor decisions. It was great game to watch and no point in dwelling on any of that. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3527 - 17/06/2024 21:52:41 2552527 Link 0 |
Mayo, Tyrone, Cork & Galway to go through. (More likely that 3 out of those 4 will go through, which 3? who knows) BlastCalyle (Mayo) - Posts: 216 - 17/06/2024 21:58:07 2552531 Link 0 |

The umpire quite clearly made the call

In my first comment I said there were bad calls on both sides, the same as every game. Yet some people took issue with that

It was a category III infraction - cynical behaviour 5.17 to behave in any way that is dangerous to an opponent It could also be viewed as a foot block as he led with his foot, he was just fortunate it didn't hit the foot Either way he cleaned O Donoghue out in a very dangerous tackle - a block in football is done with the hands That bad call by the ref also resulted in the first bit of crowd trouble I have ever witnessed in person at a GAA match. The Dublin crowd behind the town end started rowing with the young Mayo lads and the Gardai had to get involved. There were a few behind me getting really angry over any one from Mayo objecting to a refs bad call against Mayo. The Dubs are used to getting home town decisions in croker and having the Leinster teams just lying down and take it. Really don't like it when another team or supporters stand up for themselves tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1386 - 18/06/2024 03:54:18 2552564 Link 1 |

Nope you are wrong. You can't cut across a player when he is in the process of striking a ball. If you hit the ball away it's legal, otherwise it is not. The ref panicked. If it was 10 metres further out he gives a free in all day long.

You must have been at a different match to the rest of us. Crowd trouble? The two vital decisions went Mayo's way, but you seem intent - unlike Dublin people here - in inventing a narrative about an earlier incident. Move on. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3527 - 18/06/2024 09:15:10 2552591 Link 3 |
100% agree was a seriously dangerous tackle on Ryan O D and we are so lucky he wasn't badly injured. Should have been a card for Fenton and a penalty for us. Dubs don't like it when they don't get all the calls from refs and the amount of childish giving out they are doing at the moment over the game is pathetic thru can't take it when they are really tested and nearly beaten to used to getting it handy and beating teams out the gate... The fact that Ryan hit Fenton in the ass with the ball is testament to the fact that it wasn't a dangerous tackle. Just great, great defending. That says a lot about you. It was dangerous tackle end of ye can't just say fair play ye put it up to us the first proper test we've had all year but oh no have to moan about the refs if anyone is to be annoyed about the refs calls it's mayo and that awful tackle by Fenton. It had been a mayo player doing that tackle on a dubs forward we would have been at least black carded no question about it. S1234 (Mayo) - Posts: 151 - 18/06/2024 11:01:37 2552644 Link 1 |

But jesus it's laughable that people can't see what Fenton did was a foul. You cannot cut across a player like that when he is in the action of shooting. You can put your hand in but you have to hit the ball away. Otherwise it's a foul. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 8384 - 18/06/2024 11:02:50 2552646 Link 1 |
If you can't "go" across the line of a player then all blocks are illegal so you are talking BS and there is nothing in the rule book in line with what you say. Fenton did not foot block or attempt to foot block and made no contact with Ryan. The Mayo player moved right and kicked the ball against Fenton's hamstring area. Ironically the same Mayo player "gained" a free in injury time when he again went to ground with absolutely no contact from Fitzsimmons.

Go on outta dat, dress it up anyway you like, in the context of the group it was a "de facto" victory for the Dubs.

The ref was a couple of metres away, the umpires a few metres away and I don't remember Mayo players running after the ref screaming for a red card and a penalty. I didn't see the Sun Game but did McStay express his disgust at the decision? I think Lee Keegan calls it "a text book tackle" on the SG and let's face it, he'd know. Maybe Lee is wrong and the Mayo armchair experts are right. As Tuco said in the Good, the bad and the ugly. All blocks are illegal? Do you know what a block is lad? Also for the 10th time i never said Fenton attempted a foot block. I already said that previously but sure feel free to keep ranting about a foot block. Also ROD was up and away from Fitz at the end, not his fault he was called back. By the way there was a little push in the back, feel free to watch it back. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 8384 - 18/06/2024 12:08:19 2552673 Link 1 |
Haha hardly a victory you got a draw in last second after not scoring for 12 minutes? Haha
