I think its time Yew, its finally arrived, dragging the Dubs out of their cushy number the far side of Athlone and in the bears den of Connacht, like fable old.

I dont see Mayo men fading now they have them on home hallowed Connacht turf, Mayo representing the men of Connacht surely wont melt on their own fields of Connacht, its time to show those Leinster softies, with their public transport, great roads and amenities and devilishly handsome quiffs.

We've had it coming. :D

I'm delighted the GAA have saw fit to put the Cork footballers & hurlers on the same day/venue. Common sense has prevailed, and will ensure there is a raucous crowd for the footballers - who deserve some support. I do appreciate that Tyrone may not be happy with this, but it would have been totally unfair to have the games in different venues, on the same day.

Nice speech. Sounds like something out of Braveheart. The rest of Connacht will be supporting the boys in blue though ;) we might have to enlist the help of the French again.

For my Dublin colleagues, hats what they call a river in a country, its like a canal, but not a canal, you can actually swim and drink the water in a river, as strange as that sounds. Do not and i repeat do not throw your shopping trolleys in it.

Mayo need to it for Queen Medb of Connacht pal, evoke the spirit of Gráinne O'Malley and play like the game was in the Ceide Fields.

The last time army of lads from Dublin crossed the Shannon was to defeat the Irish in 1798.

Those of us Gaels in the west who got run out of Dublin by the various planters will be happy to see the planters finally cross the Shannon so we can dish out revenge, served extremely cold too.

Remember Dubs that if you take the M4 don't forget to turn left in Longford & if you take the M6 it's a right in Athlone. Don't get them mixed up or you're bolloxed.

Usually holds water pretty good. At least they have leveled out the surface now, you used to get sea sick running up and down the field.

How many times did you run up and down it? Not many I'd say. At least when we got our new surface it was done right.

Thats the spirit mate, we need more of this West dropping shapes.

However there also needs to be historical accuracy, 1798 was mainly fought in Leinster and Ulster, when the English depleted that rebellion, they headed beyond the Shannon to face the French, who surrendered after failing to raise a local force.

I'm prepared to paper over those cracks however, Connacts time is here.

Happy the GAA showed a bit of sense. Could be a table topping win for either team. Good luck in the hurling.

They did raise a force and didn't surrender until Ballinamuck which is in Leinster as the French and Connachtmen were trying to join up with the Leinster rebellion. They bet a superior English force in Castlebar and the Republic of Connacht was declared.

Watched the Armagh V Derry Game in full. Armagh are very good, but not as good as pundits have been saying and Derry are far from finished either. The same pundits had Donegal having one hand on SAM a week earlier, only to question the standard of Ulster football when Cork turned them over. Very hard judge where teams are until we start having knockout games, such as Derry V Westmeath and Ross V Cavan. It will be interesting to see if Mayo can give a game to the Dubs, but then again Mayo may not go all in for this fixture. If they throw everything at it and still lose, it will be tougher a week later up against probably an Ulster team. Cavan treated the Dubs game as a challenge so Maybe McStay might fancy a cut now, when the Dubs have not had a real test since losing the league final. If he pulled it off the reward would be huge. Personally I do not think the current Mayo is anywhere near as good as the teams that went toe to toe with Dublin in several AI Finals. If Galway have a full hand I expect them get over Armagh, but only if they have a full hand.
