This year I went to the league semi final between limerick and tipp and for 50-55 mins tipp were at championship pace. Again this year they started the year well but have played poorly in their last two proper championship matches against waterford and Galway." Well I'd say in that league semi it was 35 mins championship pace and then had no steam in the 2nd half to live with limerick. Still though it's year 1 of a project and anything after Munster RR was a bonus. We will learn plenty of fine hurlers in Tipp just need to build on this. Limerick came from no where in 2017 to building nicely in 2018 and now seem unstoppable at times. Tipp need to learn that and as you say its about timing and I've no doubt Cahill will learn and find new blood. We just need Paul Kinnerk a man that runs the whole show in limerick from u14 upwards!!

Replying To Canuck: "Tipp are definitely in transition and a year or two away. Cahill could not come in and stand down at least 4 or 5 who have giving sterling service but are past their best. Next year he will transition a lot more. I look at us more or less the same. Four or five real good young players to add but some big names have to be dropped to do that. Kilkenny for some reason are able to do this easier. I have seen them bringing in a 29 year and it looking like he was always there." Very true and even despite transition there is no guarantee that any team comes out of Munster next year. Cork and yerselves will be going all guns blazing and I tell ya its gonna be even more cut throat than this year.

It is his first year with Tipp and the sign of a good manager is being able to change and adapt. We will see going forward. Tipp don't accept failure for too long as Bonnar found out.

This new format almost guarantees Kilkenny and Galway at least a quarter final spot in the All Ireland series every year. It is difficult to envisage a scenario where both fail to emerge from Leinster. The Munster round robin is a cash cow for the GAA, and the current format most likely will continue. The only downside is counties that fail to emerge from Munster, and compete in All Ireland series for years in a row. Waterford have now failed twice in a row, and that is a concern.

Disappointing effort from a Dublin perspective, cut through like a hot knife through butter and as the old saying goes, goals win games. Regarding the Clare support, I saw them in action in their Munster championship match v Limerick (who were just as bad) and Saturday reinforced my opinion of them. Less said the better but some of them wouldn't know decency, humility or class if it bit them in the face.
A trying year for Micheal and his team and losing the mainstay of the team meant it was an impossible task, but they should have had more bodies back to try cut out the goals for me. Hard to see the underage talent to take us to the next level.
I was aghast at how bad the Galway Tipp match was at times, if that match was Wexford v Dublin the condescension would have been everywhere. It took off in the 60th minute but Tipp were brutal and but for Galway's inability to put them away, they stayed in the match.
After all the bluster and claptrap this year, the semi finals are the 4 provincial finalists.

Kilkenny man, with 6 posts worrying about the Munster counties who don't qualify? Hmmm. I for one won't worry about the Munster counties, the format is there choice. Or propose something better. Or suck it up. Whichever.

Can't see both failing to emerge in the same year. But last year Kilkenny nearly didn't emerge and the year before that, 2019, Galway didn't. Hopefully over the next few years Wexford and Dublin can become more consistently competitive. Waterford have failed 4 times in a row to get out of the round robin. Tipp have failed twice. Clare and Cork once each. As in Leinster only 1 county has come out of Munster all 4 years. Limerick and Kilkenny. Ourselves and Galway 3 times, and Dublin twice.

Replying To daveboy: "Went yesterday to the Q finals as a neutral and it was honestly a frustrating and disappointing evening. Was really looking forward to both matches. The breeze possibly didn't help. The first 20 mins of Clare v Dublin was 2 teams that were full of nerves. Donal Burke wasn't fit to start you could see it in the warm up. The air went out of the balloon when he hobbled off. The rest of that match was pedestrian bar 10 mins when Clare showed clear weaknesses in front of their Full back line. Dublin allowing the middle to be wide open behind conor Burke was just remarkable for an experienced sideline that o Donoghue has assembled. Clare picked them off at ease. It was a nice match for clare to get. Dublin are not at the level required right now. Clare will be concerned regarding their health leading into kilkenny. I heard Aidan mccarthy could be done for the year. Conor cleary must again be a doubt. Shane o donnell hobbled off. David mc didn't start and John conlon took a nasty looking concussion. He's had a few in last couple of years. Clare will need everyone fit for their semi final. Everyone.
The first half of Tipp v Galway was really disappointing . Both teams pulled a forward out and left Burke and maher free. Galway were better than Tipp at avoiding the free man but still hit some aimless ball on top of maher. Galway should have been out of sight by half time. Tipp were abysmal. Launching long ball down on a dominant Galway defense time and time again. No composure and completely blown out of it physically. I was watching the Tipp warm up before the match and couldn't believe how sloppy it was and at times players didn't know what to do and where they should be going in some drills. It fed its way directly onto the field. I thought Galway defended really well. I thought Gearoid Mc was dominant and Joseph cooney again was powerful. Whelan is some machine and Limerick don't have sean finn this time around so Galway will look to feed him ball. I really like the look of kevin cooney. He's still a bit raw but has the makings of a top drawer 14.
The semi finals are the 4 best teams in the country so no complaints can be made. Clares injury list is worrying and the same could be said of Limerick. Limerick will look to get Cian Lynch firing in 2 weeks and that'll give them a huge dimension to their game. Hannon will be missed but again they'll have a plan to not only replace him but again give Limerick a slightly different look. My take on it is Dan will be 3 Byrnes will stay 5 and Hayes will stay 7. Galway will be planning for Limerick with no real idea who or how Limerick might play which will be different to previous years.
Semi final stage now and it's intriguing. That Leinster final was a far better standard of hurling to the munster final so the munster myth for me was never there. Munster is just hugely competitive but kilkenny and Galway are awesome outfits. They are also relatively fresh. It's gonna be tough for clare and Limerick." I was also at the matches as a neutral and I agree think you have hit the nail on the head with your summation.
I was on the City end Terrace and I think an awful lot of the wide counts from all sides can be put down to the wind which was substantial. The flags behind the goals appeared to be blowing down from the Clare end to the city end whist the Flags on the back of the open stand appeared to be blowing across from the Mackey Stand to the openside.
Also I think the long puck outs coming from the Clare end goal going towards the corner of the open stand and City Terrace seem to fly long whilst puck outs from the City end goal toward the corner of the Mackey Stand and Clare end died very quickly even went left to right on occasions. It took all sides a while to figure this out.
After a few bad wides from Distance Clare figured this out started to run it in further and dominated from then on. Galway also had a plan to work the ball in with shorter passes negating the effect of the wind. I'm not sure Dublin got to grips with the wind at all and Tipperary only figured it out well into the second half.

I think the current format will continue and there would be a massive risk changing it as if you lose the big Munster championship round robin crowds then hurling is suddenly in a lot on trouble.
With Cork just going out by a puck of a ball this year i often wonder why Alan Cadogan has never featured for them in the last couple of years, granted i haven't seen much of him but anytime i have seen him he would put the fear of god in you as a defender. I used to dread seeing him coming on as he will always get scores. Was it back in 2022 he came on in the last 20 mins and banged over 3 points and Cork nearly caught Galway in the quarter finals. If he was brought on 10 mins earlier things the result could have been very different. You have the likes of Conor Lehane who seems to be given chance after chance and then the likes of Alan Cadogan who always looks red hot on the few chances he has been given. Would love to get a Cork perspective on this. For me he is an unreal talent that was never fully utilised by the county and could have been the difference in many a tight game. Why has he always been overlooked I never even hear the Cork crowd mention his name.

The one thing i will say is that Cork, Clare and Limerick come out in huge numbers to support their teams so the possibility of their being a few bad eggs are greatly increased as there is a much greater spread of people. Easy for all others to be well behaved while they sit at home and cheer on their teams in front of the TV. Why doesn't that great Galway team have a far bigger following for example. I'd have far bigger criticisms of the counties whose supporters can't be bothered to go to games.

Much lower possibility of hassle from Dublin fans when only 16 of them turned up.

Four best teams in the competition left in it. I predict an all Leinster AI Final (followed by moaning from Munster Commentators about Munster being too hard and that Leinster have it easy)
Reasons for the above prediction :
Kilkenny v Clare - I did not like the look of the Clare full back line at all and i think Kilkenny will exploit that a lot more than Dublin did. Add in injuries to McInerney, Conlan and O' Donnell and i think they will struggle. Adrian Mullen returning would be massive for Kilkenny but i think they have enough without him even to get over Clare. Clare have serious forwards but i don't think they have a back outside of Conlon and maybe Ryan that would start for the remaining teams and that is what will cost them in the end.
Limerick v Galway - I think this will be similar to the semi final last year in which Limerick edged over the line in the last few minutes however I think Limericks injuries will take their toll eventually and they will be just pipped here. I don't know if they can get over the loss of Declan Hannon. Coughlin or Riche English are good replacements but none of them can play Declan Hannons roll and i think his loss will upset the apple cart too much. I though Galway looked hungry yesterday and had a fight not always associated with them. They should have won by 10-12 points. If they match that intensity i think they will win here. This won't be a popular opinion but great teams sometimes fall hard when they do fall and like Kilkenny in 2010 or 2016 i think if/when Limerick lose it might be by a margin a bit bigger than expected. That's no slur on a great team but i think the signs of decline are slowly appearing this year. I don
