I have great memories of even county songs being played on the radio before Munster finals with Cork and Kerry and in All Ireland finals too when it was nerve tingling listening to the Rose of Mooncoin or The Banks of My own lovely lee, Slievnamon etc...now its only a big rigmorale with the red carpet meeting the president, the camera zooming in on high level politicians and over analysis almost down at end of the pitch with headphones and fancy coats and scarves...the old way was much nicer and more memorable..like outside the counties involved who can remember the scores in most All Irelands now, let alone provincial finals and indeed who took part in the latter..its all too comercial and marketed now.. I am of your generation FairPlay, it might not be cool to remember the traditional county songs in some quarters nowadays.
