Would say the opposite the more open space will suit Ballygunner better. Ballyhale back line looked slow. Anyway it is scandulous to drag both set of supporters up to Dublin. Ballygunner going by Ballyhale. The teams would have been better to toss as at the end of the day as I don't think the pitch will effect either side too much.

Wexford Park would have been handier for both sets of fans, especially with New Ross bypassed with the new bridge. Or Dr Cullen Park.

For sure and give people a chance to go. They would get more supporters from both clubs and Wexford fans also as they enjoy their hurling. I would not agree with Cork either because it would not be fair to ask Ballyhale to go through Waterford.

Only issue with Wexford Park at the moment is only the main stand is open due to ongoing work installing floodlights, would leave capacity around 4 or 5 thousand.

The work done on the Wexford Park pitch in the summer looks to have helped alot, I was at the diuble header last Saturday and the pitch seemed to be in good knick.

Anyone likely to go to the hurling semi won't not go to it on account of the World Cup being on TV. I like soccer, Im fairly passionate about Millwall and Cliftonville tbh and have seen both live hundreds of times and have been to several dozen Wexford FC games home and away too, but I wouldn't miss a knockout game Taghmon were playing hurling in to watch any of the 3 on tv.

What about some thought for the club people who support the game. Firstly there will be no one from Waterford or Kilkenny who will go to Dublin on Christmas week, other than those from the two clubs. There will be no one in Dublin either there. There will a little cluster in an 80,000 stadium like a fly on a cow dump. The clubs should have tossed for Nowlan Park or Walsh Park. It would not effect the chances of either. If not like was said go to Wexford. For god sake the game could be played in Mullinavat and accomodate the number who want to go, giving an atmosphere. The game is a semi not a final at Christmas time.

Have ya seen the state of Parnell park get yer own house in order before slaying other counties.

Me personally I'll be in croker frost bite and all was there last weekend as a neutral and was there two week before. This has potential to be a cracker ballyhale and ballygunner won't be too bad either

Have watched many club matches in Wexford Park late in the year, and while the improvements under the stand might have made a difference, it still wouldn't give a decent sod or a good surface for playing on in December. That was my only point.
Nor would the Nell. Nor would Dr Cullen Park. Nor would Newbridge. Navan.
Croke Park is the only place for it bar maybe Thurles or Cork.
A happy Christmas to you and maybe get that chip on your shoulder seen to if you take offence to a generic point.

You'd have been right in the past about what you say about Wexford Park there, but you're actually very wrong now.

I was there last week for the football finals and the pitch was in unbelievably good condition for time of year. Anyone else who was there and who stepped onto it will tell you the same thing. The new groundsman and the irrigation work that was done this year have made an enormous difference.

Brilliant to hear that Pikeman but there is a world of difference between playing hurling and football, it might be OK for football (and I am asking, not telling) but would it stand up to the rigours of a top hurling match?
Don't get me wrong here btw, if Wexford Park could withstand it it would be a top game to get there.
But I can't help wonder if the artificial lights, etc that they can grow grass in Croke Park in December with make it the best option?
I mean, all the had to do was change the stupid throw in time. They have lights there.

Seems there's a lot of cross-posting going on here today.

Anyway, yes, the pitch in Wexford Park last weekend would have been well able to host hurling. No reason to believe it'll be any different tomorrow. It's genuinely among the best I've ever seen it at any time of year, and I've been going there a long time.

And by the way, grass is still growing in December even without lights. Take it from one who knows his lawn is in a bad need of mowing if it ever dries up enough....!

Well its funny you say it Pikeman, I might be doing that. One of my old friends his son is hurling for Commercials.
If the match goes ahead I might just go to it. Might be doing taxi for the kids though so will have to see. Worst case, I am meeting the man in Wexford tomorrow night so he will be able to report on how it handled it.

Typical. Just as I'm singing the praises of Wexford Park, the match has been moved to St. Patrick's Park instead.

I presume it's to do with frost and probably the ground that's in the shadow of the covered stand in Wexford Park not thawing out properly. It was always the slowest part to dry up after rain, and the sun won't get at it any quicker to thaw frost either, no matter how good the news groundsman is.

Unless he just rips the stand out of the place altogether.....

Finally just got to sit down to watch the Leinster final. Holy Sh1t! That is why we love hurling. I don't know if I've ever seen a team to bring the intensity and effort kilmacud brought to the second half. They must be gutted but should be very proud. Anyone that hasn't seen the game…it's on TG4 player. You won't get better entertainment!
