I don't think winning Leinster Minor titles is the be all and end all, Galway have won countless Minor All-Irelands but don't have a lot to show for at Senior level. It's more important that we develop the key skills at Minor level than anything else and if we end up winning Leinster (Or All-Ireland) Minor titles, that's a bonus.

Yes but last year you said you "had seen all the minor team all the way up through and that team was far from the best hurlers in Wexford and could name a better team of players not involved".
Will you name it now for us?

Lads are being too critical

Last season we won all 5 league games while before fitzy took over we were in division 2 for years and years and looked like we would be stuck there forever

Last year's championship we drew with Galway beat Kilkenny in nowlan park and were unlucky to lose to Clare

This year our minors lost to Kilkenny but weren't that far away from them and U20s beat Kilkenny this season. We used to be hammered at underage by Kilkenny so clearly progress is being made

This season we had a poor league and a bad championship so far but hopefully we can get something out of the last two matches and finish on 6 points

First things first, I for one am happy to have GAA GO!
I hate blame games because you win and lose as a team, management and players. Blame games help nobody.
I heard the Storey interview on WhatsApp and he isn't calling for a high ball to Nick Rackard, he is only saying we need to hurl to our strengths and use the inside forwards. All the top counties have dangerous inside forwards.
The interview was a bit of a hatchet job, for example what business does a local radio station presenter have asking if a manager should have a local selector brought in? Crazy talk, should probably stick to current affairs.

In what way do we lack a professional plan at minor do you think ?

Replying To wexfordwin:  "Just listened to the "interview" online. I think even Storey found it uncomfortable after a few minutes as Corcoran was on a click bait run. Corcoran who likes to present himself as a great hurling man is leading the charge of negativity at the moment. Surely we get behind the team for the tow last games and hold the post mortem then!"
Have you a link to this or how can I find it?

What way are the u20s shaping up for Wednesday night? Has rossitor a full panel?A huge game, the lads will know they left it behind them last year. Beating kk already this year will give them confidence.

have been reading a lot of the stuff on here lately and there are some good suggestions on how to move forward.....we need leadership from the County Board.....on the South East Radio Interview....I felt the news editor was over the top in raising the possibility of Egan having to leave now. Like as previously pointed out here....we can't hold on to 1996 forever.....we are sounding like the England Football Fans banging on about Wembley and 1966.....I don't see any stand out managers emerging from the 1996 Squad.....Declan Ruth is touted but unproven outside of Wexford....Martin Storey has a right to his view but in my opinion we can view the past in rose tinted glasses....Namely 2012-2016 was mainly turgid stuff from Liam Dunne....we were getting trounced by KK and Dublin in Leinster...and then we would carry off a couple of shocks in the back door.....look at how we ended 2014 and 2016.....humiliation in Thurles....we need calm now for the next few weeks.....beat Westmeath and then all pull together to take on Kilkenny.

Are we likely to have Damien Reck or Liam Ryan back for the Kilkenny game?

I'd agree but. The "but" being the psychological lift winning can give young lads. Winning, or losing, can be a hard habit to break. At Senior level we have been in a position to win most of our games in the closing stages in the last 5 years, except Galway this year and the covid 2020 games, but haven't got over the line most times.

Hopefully. If they aren't 100% I'd be inclined to leave them on the bench against Westmeath. Chin likewise.
Maybe start-
Lawlor,
S Reck, MOH, Donohue,
Devitt, Carty, C Foley if no u20 game in the 7 days,
K Foley
DOK, Dunbar
O Foley, Jacko, Banville,
Rory, Mogie

Mac on for the 2nd half to give a boost, probably for Jacko and tell Jacko to empty the tank in the 1st half, other subs Dwyer, R Lawlor, Mcguckin, Hearne, Flood if fit, Byrne gk, Joe OC, D Reck, Chin, Ryan. If the last 3 not fit for the bench then Murphy, Clarke and Higgins.

Think Mac deserves to start after the last day. He is still our best goal threat

We can't afford to start a team like that against Westmeath. I don't think people realise how close we are to being in Joe McDonagh next year.

One awful day against Westmeath and it's very likely.

If we lose to Westmeath (which we were only a point away from last year) and Kilkenny, and Antrim beat Westmeath then we are Joe McDonagh

1 thing I would say is Westmeath seem to be struggling compared to last year, even before the game against ourselves they were 3 pts down to Kilkenny with 20 mins left and 3 down to Dublin with 10 mins left, we hit 21 wides in that game last year too. Think there down players with injuries and traveling.

Agreed its a weakened team. But that's only if Lee, Damien and Liam aren't fit to start. If they are fit then obviously they have to start. If we miss 8 or 9 or so frees against Westmeath we are going to struggle also. If the 3 lads aren't fit to start what team would you play? Or would you play them again only half fit?

Westmeaths best forward (Killian Doyle) pulled the ham in league playoff v Laois, another good man Niall Mitchell hasn't featured much either with injury, one of our best defenders Aenghus Clarke travelling. If Doyle isn't 100% he won't be risked for of losing him for the Antrim game. If ye don't win by 12-15 points I'd be surprised. We're looking at Joe McDonagh...

I would expect lee to be fit. Id let him completely rest up this week.
Damien completely pulled up he could be under pressure for the Kilkenny game. Jippo was carrying his leg the whole game aswell so hard to know if he will be ready. Its an awful pity we have had no luck with injuries this year
