Replying To Afinestick:  "Saturday really is a huge game for us. A win would give us momemtum and confidence going into the Westmeath and Kilkenny games. We would be virtually in the All Ireland Series and be raring to take Kilkenny on for a place in the Leinster final. Losing would be a massive blow and would have to somehow pick ourselves up for our final 2 games to qualify in 3rd"
Wouldn't say a massive blow exactly. That's a bit disrespectful to Dublin. But yes it would make the last 2 games must win like last year.

Good luck to Wexford this weekend. Hurling needs strong representation from Wexford and others. On yere day can put it up to any other team. Hopefully more of those days.

Tom Dempsey said on South east radio today that hurling wasn't getting enough coverage on Rte.
He reckons that too many games were only available on a pay to view channel and our national broadcaster was not promoting the game. He thinks it's unfair for people who can't afford to pay or older life long supporters who are not up to modern technology.
South east conducted a survey to see how many agreed with Tom. Silly survey really as everyone, well almost everyone agreed that we should have more games free to view. Why would anyone disagree.
Of course we would all like to see more hurling on Rte.but it's not going to change because gaago have a contract to stream 38 games football and hurling as a streaming service.
All of the above has been discussed at great length when Sky got the contract. So it's just more of the same. Sorry Tom but it's a fait accompl.

Very strong team named with both Reck and Ryan named to start. Mac on the bench. I think if we line out as named we will be too strong. Wexford by 5

Nerves kicking in already. Our strongest team out I'd say. Was hoping o donnell want fit but he is. Best of luck to the lads out season hinges on tomorrows game. Don't care if we don't hurl well result is the most important thing.

Cant believe/accept that Mac is not worth his place. Is there something else I dont know about.

Hopefully Reck and Ryan do start, just as a word of warning Chin was named to start in Salthill and didn't for example, O'Donnell could be a doubt for Dublin too as he went off near the end of their game last week, that would a game changer too.

I think his lack of mobility is costing him his place.

I think he is now more suitable as an impact sub. He could be introduced as wing forward or full forward as an aerial threat. Starting him against O Donnell is not an option.

Eoghan is named at full back. Not heard any more about his injury and doubt they'd name him at all if he was a doubt.

Seen that, I'd be surprised if he didn't start but like I said Chin was named to start for us in Salthill and didn't feature at all so it is a possibility, same with Reck and Ryan for us. What sort of injury did O'Donnell pick up last week?

Am I missing something with the Gaa go thing??2 big games in hurling not available to free to air..could we'd/Dublin not have been played and shown on RTÉ?I watched lim/Kerry last year on a Saturday.I won't be watching either of football finals due to expected results and not much excitement..kk/Antrim not on tv either..no tipp/cork which a lot of neutrals would love to see..why can't RTÉ,virgin and tg4 come together..I've listened to skehill on a podcast and he can't understand the set up..if I'm right Gaa go have another Munster c/ship game on tv before the season finishes..the Gaa to me don't really care about the ordinary supporter anymore in my mind..it's a huge bugbear of mine but top brass won't listen to ordinary folk..

Got a bang of a stick. Was limping but obviously nothing major. I'd say he was taken off more as precaution than anything else as game was won probably by half time and he be huge loss against your fellas. I doubt they'd name him if he wasn't fit and if isn't fit he's not going to be coming off the bench.

More surprised at one or two of the starters on form, but that might change.

Have answered posts like this in several threads in the past, and in varying levels of detail, but long story short is:

- GAA can't force RTE, Virgin, TG4, or anybody else to broadcast matches free to air.

- None of those TV companies, or anybody else either, came forward to express interest in showing the matches that previously made up the Sky package. Even if GAA gave them the broadcast rights for free, they'd still face significant production and personnel costs. For example, RTE have already got crews going to three sports venues this weekend (one rugby, and two GAA). You want them to find enough staff and equipment to go to one, two, or three other venues on Saturday as well as that?

- Rather than not having the matches shown at all, GAA has instead developed an enhanced GAA GO model. Based on reports, there's been a few teething problems, but generally speaking, it's a progressive and positive move.

Few things on this, firstly GAAGO have just got Sky's package so these games wouldn't have been on free to air last year either, the problem for me is RTE not taking a bigger allocation with the increase in games this year with the new football championship, its a damned if you do damned if you don't situation this weekend, if a provincial final was behind a paywall there would just as much outrage. I agree on your last couple of points especially in relation to elderly people, my father is turning 80 next year and been honest without myself and my siblings would be lost in terms of GAAGO and getting tickets online, to many unnecessary barriers these days, ticketmaster can be disaster too.

Ah he'll be fine then, probably a knock and nothing muscle related.
