Replying To cluichethar:  "Everyone appalled with what's going on in Gaza but everyone is quiet with what's going on in Nigeria, I wonder why is that. No protests, no hours of debate in the Dail, no UN resolutions."
I have heard people ask the same thing normally when Gaza is mentioned ans exactly in the same way, its terrible what's happening in Gaza but why are you Christians focused on Gaza which is mainly Muslim when Muslims are slaughtering Christians in Nigeria.
This is a complete fabrication of the reality of the various internal conflicts that have been going on in Nigeria of which there are a couple at any one time. Good old Bill Maher starts it off and then gets picked up by Fox so of course it all has to be true - just in case the right wing Christians in the US decided that perhaps Israel was not a good actor and the US should stop supporting them.

But anyway please explain what you think is going on in Nigeria.

If you are comparing Nigeria with Palestine you have very little understanding of what the situation is in Nigeria and are taking whataboutery propaganda straight from Fox News.

Our Galway and Clare bots are very quiet lately, or have they been rumbled ? If they haven't they are possibly waiting to see where the Nobel PP goes. If Netanyahu plays ball and calls off the bombardment of Gaza and announces an end to war, Mr T might fancy his chances of snatching it. 7 other wars ended - one of which never was - and this would be the icing on the cake. After all, wasn't Netanyahu one of those who nominated him ? He might have to wait another year. Best he could hope for now before next weekend is a ceasefire, hardly enough to swing this much coveted prize for him

I never mentioned Christians or Muslims you did, all I said was no one seems to care about what's going on in Nigeria.
You proved my point, obviously Nigerian lives don't matter to you.

His action's at home should ensure he gets nowhere near a peace prize.

I care about the loss of any life no matter where and why, however what you seem to be suggesting is that the causes of the loss of life are all equal.
What is it exactly should people be protesting in the Dail about? help us all out here.

Wonder how FF will try to spin this one?
It's amusingly ironic that a landlord-tenant issue has scuppered their plans.

Their blase attitude to how a tenant was treated and to how people are registered with the RTB speaks volumes.

He was on 15%. Their plans never even got off the ground, regardless of the lies about the rent.

Looking forward to martins explaining of this ff fiasco..he had a party member who wanted to run but went for the so called celebrity..
I'm hoping some of his party will put pressure on to remove him as leader

Absolutely ironic, FF have egg on their face again, the Presidential election is now an even bigger farce, the thing about celebrity candidates is while they may look good on paper and on camera they are not politicly road tested, you never know what dirt is hiding somewhere on them waiting to be exposed whereas your average politician is well scrutinised already and battle hardened.
I wish Jim Gavin well, I think he's better sticking to what he's good at, at least George Lee got elected.

You're right it is but only as long as you agree with him 100% or he gets cranky. He's fun to laugh at though.

I feel bad for Jim Gavin, as while he would have been wasted in that semi-pointless role, we could do with someone like him looking at the HSE problems or looking at Justice mess etc.

This Presidential campaign is a big distraction for politicians in the Dail, as every tv slot if filled with broadcasters asking pointless questions about situations the Irish president will have no power over.

Jim would likely have benefited from a few rounds of sandbox presidential elections too, before embarking on the real campaign.

It's a nice deflection for them at least, the Budget should be of far more interest to people this week.
With no general election this time, the budget could be a sore enough one.

Fairly embarrassing exit for Gavin. Came across as truly awful in any debate and interview he did prior to his exit and was certain to finish 3rd in a 3 horse race had he remained in the race.

Not a great look for the GAA either, HQ spent a lot of money to put together the FRC who was fronted by Jim Gavin zero debate or any opposition was had at the weekends Congress the poor to average knock out All-Ireland series was totally ignored while they locked in the 2025 rules for 5 years.

I agree with you there. The presidential role is a complete waste of Gavin's skills. I don't think the head of state and the represetative of the Irish people is a pointless role, but it is much better suited to people who have spent a good chunk of their lives drafting and implementing legislation or someone with a legal background. Michael McDowell, although I wouldn't be a big fan, would have been an ideal 3rd candidate.

The surprising thing is for a man that in everything he does has such attention to detail and forethought, how did he not think this was something that might arise as an issue.
