Replying To Doylerwex:  "The capitalist system in it's current form is immoral."
There is no pure capitalist system out there as there is no pure communists or socialist system.
The system doesn't make the people who they are. But you could argue it facilitates them.

Replying To Monaghansclown:  "It genuinely scares me that this is a close US Presidential race. The fact that close to half of a population of the world's largest democracy can watch Trump's performance the other night and still vote for him blows my mind. Whatever your thoughts on Harris, Trump is quite clearly unhinged. Let's be honest, if someone was talking like that to you in a pub you would be taking the keys off them. This guy has a 50:50 chance of being the most powerful man in the free world.

It has to come down to the fact that social media has brainwashed people beyond repair. People simply can't believe the evidence of their own eyes anymore. Immigrants eating cats and dogs, babies aborted after birth, only accepting the election result if he wins etc. etc. Then when corrected, Trump and his supporters reckon it is a 3 on 1 debate. Sharing false videos online to try and show their man was correct with these absurd conspiracy theories.

Stupidity is also a disease that can cross the Atlantic and considering the rise of far right populist candidates in this country, I genuinely fear that we could follow suit over the next few years. If so, I fear for the country my kids will grow up in. It's imperative that Trump gets beat in November and it's even more imperative that the GOP dumps Trump and his cronies and moves back to the real conservative values they have tried championing for years."
A bit of advice…. don't be loosing any sleep over who wins the Presidency as it won't have any effect on you… Did you notice any big changes or improvements to your life since Trump lost the last election and Biden took over…? No I didn't think so… Why people in this country including politicians ( who would be better served sorting out their own mess ) get so worked up about US politics is nauseating…in fact it's embarrassing….!!!

Talking about executing babies after birth and other mad stuff. He went into the spin room after as well which he was advised not to by his staff as it almost admits defeat.

Which American people are you talking about. The election won't be decided by his hardcore base. You don't seem to understand that."
Calm down there now, we aren't in America. It is irrelevant to us. I think they are two poor candidates with largely the same policies, except you don't seem to understand that. People in Ireland seem to have romantic notions of the democrats, JFK isn't in charge anymore. Most Irish people in the USA will vote republican and that is a fact

And listen i know it's annoying for you as you said all Trump had to do was stay quiet and she would be spouting word salads and the opposite happened as i told you it would. But here you are still trying to say what's what.

All of us in the West are a part of the America empire whether we like it or not. Ireland more than most actually. I agree with you though. They're both bad candidates.

Personally I think trump is more likely to bring about peace in Ukraine and Israel which will ease pressure on energy costs and is morally good.

Harris is far less likely to adopt a protectionist economic policy which will have a positive impact on jobs in Ireland. I don't think people get how serious that is.

Either way the American empire is coming to an end.

Agreed.

A combination of a capitalist market with strict social regulation is best.

In short, a social floor below which nobody is allowed to fall. We could do that if we had any political will.

Let's be honest, media and politicians love having trump and the presidential race at the forefront as it deflects away from what's going on in this country and the real issues. I agree with you 100% about people over here getting all worked up about it, it's pathetic. I couldn't care less if mickey mouse was president. But hey as I said it deflects, and that's the main issue.

Not interested in American politics but the world kept turning when Trump was in office in his first term

Trump more likely to bring peace in Ukraine and Israel? What's that opinion based on? He doesn't believe in Nato and has praised Putin more than once. Trump is a puppet for the likes of Putin.

Well personally I keep a keen interest on US politics. I work for a US company so what happens there does have an effect on me personally. Remember 370,000 Irish people are employed by US companies based here.

And they still will unless the fact that Europe caught out Ireland for their tax breaks has an effect on US companies…. Trump did Ireland no harm when in power but will the same be said of Harris when ( if ) she gets elected ….? be careful what you for sometimes…

He's the only US president in modern history to not start a new war.

Biden gave Putin a free pass by publicly confirming that under no circumstances would US boots touch the ground. That's up there with Neville Chamberlain and Hitler.

Trump may have praised Putin, but he's willing to talk to him, where the rest of the west is not. You'll never solve anything by standing clicking your tongue at somebody from a distance.

You're the one getting all het up about trump. I thought TDS was only reserved for Americans. I'd assume you have friends or cousins over there. Ask them did they feel better off under Trump or Biden and see what they say. Harris will be Biden Mark II

That's incorrect.

The BABA policy has cost Irish jobs.

So just to clarify you think Putin doesn't invade Ukraine if Trump was there?

There is no difference between Harris and Trump on Israel which is effectively a US State. As for Putin, Trump couldnt care less War will end this winter anyway.

I genuinely don't think so.

You can't just think he's a loose cannon when it suits you.

There was real fear that trump would take the nuclear option. Was that credible or not?

The doubt was enough. Same as in the 80s. The Russian's were willing to talk because nobody trusted Reagan with nukes.

I believe the word of his security advisors and his 4 star general. He is a loose canon on everything.
