I don't find any of them entertaining really. Ex players ore often guarded about what they say, hoping for a pundit role somewhere. Others are full of cliches, half true stories that grew legs over the years and stories that have been heard a lot of times before. Even up for the match, while it is a national treasure at this stage, is fairly predictable in what it serves up.
Out of the pundits I've listened to, John Mullane is one of the most likeable because his passion for the game is and has always been refreshing.
I find the opinions of ordinary fans (like on here) far more interesting because those opinions take far more into account - the cost of attending games, travel times, where to get a pre match pint, the game itself or the experience of bringing children to a game. There may already be one, I don't know, but a podcast without ex players, managers, ex managers or any celebrity would be very interesting.

I dont listen to GAA podcasts, I make up my own mind from watching games, not listening to people some of whom have agenda's of their own. Its the same with studio analysis on TV, no interest at all in it any more, far too safe and predictable.

I enjoy the Examiner's "Gaelic Football Show" and occasionally, "Indo Sport" (although the latter covers may sports and topics).

A nice debut from Donie Smith on Smaller Fish last night. Very good analysis.

Speaking of Podcasts, anyone else see the clip of a member of the UL management team, whose name I will not mention, poking a Maynooth player in the eye last night ??? Surely disciplinary action needs to be taken.?!
It is a real topic of discussion online currently.

Galway posters. James Skehill, what's the craic there? I had never heard of him before he started on the podcast. Did he start 1 All-Ireland they lost and that it?

It's a very hard listen with Spillane constantly just repeating his same old rants, stories and regularly interrupting Michael Verney and Dick Clerkin. They had started the preview of the Connacht Championship and of course Spillane has to butt in and go off topic for nearly a good 10 minutes about his love of the provincial championships and the local rivalry.
Verney is an excellent host/presenter and Clerkin is very good also, but sorry I find Spillane hard to stomach anymore. Same old stories, opinions, rants the whole time and constantly talking over people. Brings nothing to the table and I honestly still to day can't understand why Indo Sport got him a pundit. The day of him drawing viewership is long over.

I think Pat must be there for some sort of older audience that hang on his word, even if it's rehashing old stories and the odd rant, needs someone to spark off. Dick Ckerkin is good but not great. Verney is brilliant, wasted on that pod when you see some GAA hosts on television. The hurling shows are better.

Verney's knowledge and passion for hurling is off the charts, so no surprise the Hurling shows are better. Mullane and especially Pat Ryan are brilliant. Ryan's knowledge and memory is unbelievable. While he's still very much young to be playing inter-county, he has now established himself as one of the best pundits around. Going back to Verney, it is amazing how GAA+ or RTE haven't picked up on him as host. He would be top class. For somebody who would describe themselves very much as a hurling man, he is brilliant on the big ball also and comes across very much deeply interested also.
