The number of games and the closeness of them together means that people will be choosy. If you follow both games then would be either impossible or very dear to be going to them all! I often enjoy Leinster hurling more, it can be more of a dog fight with lower scores and the ball in play more leading to some great battles. This year is mad with everything crammed together, that's a different thread. I am just surprise at some of the crowds compared to Munster. Even leaving Wexford aside surely Galway at home to Kilkenny should be close to a sell out. Especially with Henry Sheff in the hot seat. Galway went long enough with no home games. Now they have a cracker on their door step. Crowds comparatively small enough in 2019 too in what was a brilliant Leinster championship when you look back. The Connacht GAA and Garda decision to switch the game to Saturday on short notice played a huge part in that along with charging 30€ for stand tickets. The will start to come now as they only seem to follow a winning team. But they are very fickle. Plus hurling is only the main sport in one third of the county if even, 2/3 is mainly football with a tiny bit of underage hurling! Fiver for kids to championship is great. You are right though there needs to be a bit more flexibility. I think every county has these supporters. Like I say, every county has 10k core support for championship and after that it is the bandwagon hoppers. Although I also drew the line after paying in to 1 match last weekend, and I don't have mortgage or children commitments. People are more choosey about what they go to than they once were. Should the GAA consider a "weekend pass"? For example, a Wexford supporter who went to all the matches last weekend probably shelled out €70 on tickets and whatever on diesel. Surely, a €30 weekend ticket might swell the crowd at all these matches? No offence to Laois or Dublin but I wasn't shelling out another €20 on each game to look at us giving a hiding, getting a hiding and 1 50-50 game in the u20. It might also help the crowd at the McDonagh/Ring/Rackard/Meaher cups if they were part of a package with a football match in many counties. Agree, I spoke to a man at training the other night and he said he hadn't been to a Wexford match this year as Ed Sheeran bankrupted him!! The difference with Ed sheerin and Gaa is the concert is a one off for people..any Gaa person from most counties have possibly 4 inter county games per week at the moment..limerick had senior football last Saturday,20s last night,minor football tonight,senior hurling next Sunday..it is a costly exercise now for a family of 4..its a reason for people picking and choosing..when round robin started in munster minor was played before senior,maybe I missed something but was there a reason given for not playing minor before senior?? There was 27500 in Limerick, surprised there was that there particularly with such a small tipp crowd. Large amount of familys out for a family day together, loads of young children and teenagers . I was at it as gf is from Tipp. I was surprised at the small Tipp crowd as well given it is less than an hour from most parts of Tipp. It isn't a surprise to see a big Limerick crowd though, if they didn't have a bandwagon at the moment when would they have one. Tipp Cork 27,131 (includes KK v LK U20 final) Clare Waterford 16,144 Kilkenny Wexford 13,565 Galway Dublin 10,583 Very surprised Kilkenny Wexford wouldn't fill Nowlan Park. Do or die for Wexford also the game only on Sky. I'd say the u20 final crown suffered from the compressed schedule. At the right time of the year that could bring 20k on it's own.
