Replying To Eddie the Exile:  "Frustrating enough display from a Monaghan perspective, whipped Louth all over the pitch but handed 2 goals to them second half to take the gloss off it."
A win was the most important thing, a very good performance all round. The down game will tell us all we need to know but we are in a good place. Monaghan will beat clare easily.

Louth will score goals v any team as that is in them but thought we were a fair bit the better side today and fully deserved the win. I'd put the first half goals down to rustiness but conceding the second half ones is inexcusable for a team with monaghans ambitions of a quarter final spot.

Would be happy enough with that. We were realistically 10+ points better than the Leinster champs, and we came in after more than a month layoff - but the second half goals and late scores conceded should hopefully keep off any complacency that might possibly have been creeping in.

I'd like to put down the amount of goals being conceded to a bit of rustiness - though it will hopefully improve for the next day - but only conceding 8 points over a full game with the new rules is good going. Hopefully we're back on top form by the Down game, which might determine if we top this group

The Down game will tell us very little. They are an average side, as are Louth. Louth played poor opposition to win Leinster. We should have won by 15 points today. If we're not putting away Clare and Down by similar, we have no business being in the Quarter Finals

Hard luck to the minors today beaten in the All Ireland quarterfinal. I didn't get today but have attended a few matches this year and watched online. The future is bright

Replying To ScarnaMan1990:  "Any predictions for the league finals this year.
Junior
Intermediate
Senior??"
Junior - Emyvale to walk it.
Should get a run in Ulster and god know from there.

Intermediate - Close call, Carrick to pip it I think.
O'Hanlon coming back should get them over the line.

Seniors - Scotstown to walk the double.
They are missing 8 starters and are beating teams with 4-5 18year olds playing. Nobody in the county will touch them for next 5 years.

It's called ambition. Gabriel has instilled it in the group. And anyone who has been following Monaghan for long enough will be able to see the difference in the team now over previous years. I honestly believe, with the greatest of respect to Clare and Down, that we are currently operating at a higher level than them. And that momentum can kick in now and we have an opportunity to lay down a marker as we move towards the Quarter Finals.

Sean ?? what are you on about tyrone and donegal ?? monaghan yesterday was a throwback to 2013 and this will be seen as the series progresses we were rusty but not bad louths better players were nullified and now we have 3 or 4 Forwards bannigan mccarron o hanlon and mooney instead of 1 or 2 in manzy and mccarronn which is needed to take a big scalp I believe this year could be the year we can make a serious breakthrough down will be tough in a couple of weeks but I think we are learning at a rapid pace and go straight to a quarter final our management is doing a fantastic job and have the players in great shape its a pity we have b mccaul and m hamill injured as they are serious players hope to see them in the Jersey next year minors yesterday just fell short some good lads on that squad

I'll definitely be a Meath man cheering on cavan and Monaghon in this competition. Disgrace should be brought to national attention"
It is the correct decision. Great for NY to have the opportunity to be able to compete. It was only logistical method it could work.

Sorry Tom, I get confused with all your different accounts, how many are you running on your own county forum at this point? You've started winding up the Down men on our behalf too I see. Donegal will be vulnerable in Breffni next week, I think ye can take them.

We were probably 10 points better than Louth yesterday in reality, they may have had a hangover from winning Leinster, we'll give them the benefit of the doubt, they'll have to earn a QF place now the way the draw is.
Ward was Motm in my opinion, followed by O Hanlon, MB, O Toole and McCarron was very good as an impact sub. Woods and to a lesser extent Mooney still playing with the choke out, but composure comes with experience. Plenty to work on around midfield and goal concession. Conceding 3 goals should focus the mind.
I won't include the penalty, which was a dive

Diving is fast becoming a cancer in our game which should be exposed as the cheating that it is rather than ignored and encouraged. What happened the young Cork minor in the Munster final the other day was a disgraceful end to his inter county year, being sent off for a blatant attempt by the opposition player and management to get him sent off, one wonders is that the culture that is encouraged to help win at all costs, down there
But I digress Job well done yesterday playing good attacking football with a bit to work on

Well of the mark there am afraid why would I get soaking wet yesterday in Newbridge btw though the ref was going to go down the same road as match in drogheda in second half and give louth everything but he didn't

How's it great for new york there team are full of Irish players. If they're going into a competition they should be there from the start or at least from the quarter final. Straight in to the semi easy enough win and just like that a day out in Croke park.
