Replying To DundalkGael:  "According to LMFM, Louth are trying to get Croke Park as the home venue for the Monaghan game"
Yes but only if it doubles up with another fixture.

Can't see Croke Park opening up just for a Louth v Monaghan stand-alone round robin game.

Roll on the final, as you say possibly against Leitrim and here's hoping the lads have their ALL IRELAND medal at the dinner dance later in the year when seniors will be getting their medals also. Monaghan abu"
Do you ever take a day off Tom? You are deeper in the role than Kim Philby at this point.

With a special seat reserved alongside the veteran.

Really embarrassing yourself again Brehon. Obviously you are a fair weather bandwagoner. Can just see you in Croke Park on big match day hogging the best seats in the house. Time to zip up and let us true Monaghan supporters enjoy the success of all of our teams. Good luck to Paul and his squad in the All Ireland Final. Probably be a repeat of our 1999 semi final, hopefully with a different outcome. Great to see PC sill involved, so many years after he put in place the coaching system that has been so successful in the county.

Louth match will be some occasion now lads. I don't think they are nearly done for the year in terms of mindset, the scent of winning is in the nostrils now.
Gabriel Bannigan and the management team have some big, big calls to make. Midfield, half forward, and inside forwards for a start. The raw material to match up on Lennon, Durnin and Mulroy is there if deployed right, but they have to think about asking some real questions of Louth. They won 100% of the second half breaks on Sunday and grew stronger as the game wore on. If Monaghan play a ponderous game like the first 35 against Donegal it will suit Louth to no end.

Would like to echo this and our next senior manager. Hopefully he will have the all Ireland title under his belt, no man more deserving for the work he was done and the development of our players over many, many years

Doubt very much Ger Brennan would want the game in Croke Park, wouldn't be surprised if he opted for Inniskeen. Nice sedate ground to get the team back focused on All Ireland series.
Don't really care where we play as long as Monaghan perform to their potential, get in and get the job done and then plan for the next game.

I'd actually be more of a Club football man myself, but thank you for your input. I have morning and evening commitments that don't let me travel as extensively as others, but that doesn't make me any less knowledgeable. I do know the difference between an All Ireland title and an All Ireland B title. Surely the goals of our County U20s should be higher than you have set them. Also, I am just amazed how FarneyGael3 has become such an authority here, considering he has only just appeared, and has posted over 200 times in the space of 3 or 4 weeks. You would really have to wonder at what his agenda is.

Next thing will be your excuse will be that you are an Under 12 fan. Surely you have enough cop on to realise that the aim of the Under 20s was to win at the highest level, but when that didnt happen why would they turn down the opportunity of a possible 4 more games at county level with the possibility of an All Ireland title at the end. Hopefully the experience will stand to these lads when they go on to represent our county in the future. By the way I am a club supporter and volunteer and I am a fan of the split season. I will attend numerous games each week during the club season. My advice to you is to stop embarrassing yourself by trying to demean the efforts of our Under 20s and their management. I for one support all things Monaghan

Worrying what Farneygael3's agenda is? Well that is something coming from a guy whose agenda is quite clear.

No one here is demeaning the efforts of our under 20 players. It's the management we are very critical of. One of the most talented group of players we have ever had based on minor successes & management have let them down badly....2 years in succession. PC for President ...

Seems like a lot of discussion over an U20 B title, rather than the big senior game against Louth in 2 weeks.

Anyway, this will be my last post on the U20 topic until a congratulatory one (hopefully) if they win the All Ireland.
Agreeing with some posters that the minor teams successes of recent years is not transpiring at U20 level.
Our Minor All-Ireland finalists of 2023 need to be at least pushing for an Ulster title in 2026, if not, we need to wonder what sort of player development is happening, as they were a brilliant minor team, so will hold judgment on that until next year. Only for an exceptional Derry team the same year, we would have had both Ulster and All Ireland titles. Monaghan were the only team to run Derry close that year, Derry beat other teams well.
One particular poster seems infatuated with the U20 B tournament this year, its the only topic that person posts about, which is a bit weird if you ask me. Westmeant v Leitrim in the other U20 B semi final this evening and not a word on either county forum about it, which says a lot.
If U20s do win the All Ireland, fantastic.! any All Ireland title achieved at any level is a great achievement and deserves recognition but we all agree that Monaghan should be competing for A titles. However, the B tournament certainly gives fringe players the benefit of extra games at inter county level and that is good thing and definitely brings them on.

So, on to the Louth game, I hear that the game now could be in Breffni but GAA have confirmed nothing yet.
If it is, this game will be a full house and should be a great atmosphere.
What's the updates on Monaghan's injuries, will Lavelle be starting for this game ? what's the news on young Hamill ? I see Bobby McCaul is out for the year.

That is a surprise. 15k capacity, Louth fans will fill this on their own.
Kildare v Down in Joe McDonagh cup at 2pm at same venue so probably only 13k for Louth and Monaghan.
Brennan must have been pushing for a ground where they had success already this year, having beating Laois there but surely there were better options to cater for the crowd, i.e. Port Laois or even Tullamore ?

Louth have basically given up any home advantage, I think we really now have to be looking for 3 wins and straight to the quarter finals from this group, won't get as kind a group for a long time.

Difficult to know why louth have opted for Newbridge. Maybe Ger Brennan thinks good idea to drag Monaghan out of their comfort zone of ulster grounds familiar to them as we haven't played there that much over the years but it's a strange decision. If they'd gone with Navan been guaranteed 15k louth supporters maybe more they'd taken it over like a home match now be a lot less.
