Have seen a good few games in Junior football this year. Drumhowan deserved promotion. Toome very lucky to beat Aghabog in league final. Aghabog had a very good season although they'll feel it was a chance missed. Seans were very disappointing but surely will improve next year. Emyvale will be the team to beat but as we all know, it's a tough division when you're down there. Eire Og will be thereabouts again. Currin and Blackhill too. Thought Rockcorry were massively improved this year and were very unlucky with injuries.Scotstown and Oram can beat anyone on their day. It will be another miserable failure. Anything less than an Ulster Club title is a miserable failure for the United Parishes, and that ain't happening for these under achievers.

I know scotstown have a big pick and they have a large area to choose from but they must get some credit for their achievements. For example if you amalgamated the likes of oram, Blackhill, toome and doohamlet together they wouldn't win a senior championship.

Probably the 10th time you have said that this year … impressively word for word .. go back to your own club and stop whinging…lend a hand there, maybe become an umpire

You'd also have to get a McCurrin, a Donegal player and one or two others from outside the county to join the Oram, Blackhill, Toome and Doohamlet team... And then I don't think they would be far away...

If you amalgamated Oram, Blackhill, Toome and Doohamlet they'd still have a lower population than the parish of Tydavnet, never mind the addition of Ballinode, Scotstown and Knocktallon… So no, they certainly wouldn't be winning a senior championship.

Don't forget if u were going by parish boundaries the hughes brothers should have been playing with Seans….

Last year it was all about Banty and Corduff, now its all about Scotstown , the moral of the story just don't be any good and you won't get mentioned. patmouse (Monaghan) - Posts: 122 - 22/10/2024 12:43:23 2576337 Link 0 |
No harm to you, but this the Monaghan GAA thread and who are you to tell anyone to move on from discussing a subject that has a large effect on the Monaghan GAA scene. While on the subject of the United Parishes, their hosting of the Junior County Final was a disgrace. They ar not even in the top 10 of clubs in the county for facilities. There are 4 clubs in the county with seated accomadation that are way more suitable. The UP homeground is no place to bring old people or young to see their club heroes.

I think these are legitimate posts and questions about Scotstown. Is the current Scotstown club set up appropriate for the betterment of Monaghan football? Do the Scotstown contingent in the county panel have too much sway? Did they turn on Vinny Corey and result in him stepping down?

I think them getting to semi-finals in League & Championship would be a fair indicator.

Are you really not able to differentiate a village and a parish?

Dragging each game to the gutter helped……

Adrian Alfred has stepped down from Clones. Did well to keep them up in the end. What chance the Clones men who were over Rock taking over? Matchwatcher (Monaghan) - Posts: 3 - 22/10/2024 15:02:56 2576376 Link 0 |
In fairness I think most of the debate and slagging on here began in repsonse to the Veteran, and his constant preaching about Scotstown having superior coaching structures to everyone else, and doing everything better to everyone else. And no matter what counter argument, even when presented with factual data, he chose to just continue with his usual diatribe. How will Eoin Lennon's reputation be affected by this relegation? Emyvale will surely go in as the most overwhelming favourites for junior in recent times next year, I'd expect another big name will jump at the chance to take them and probably win a double.

That's a hell of an accusation to make. What's your issue?
