No surprises in the senior semi today. I was impressed how well shamrocks played in the first half. It was a great game of football. Downs hit a fair few wides in the first half that their forwards should have easily finished. Second half, shamrocks couldn't win any kick outs and the whole game just fell apart.

If Kinnegad played how they did yesterday, it could be a decent final.

I genuinely wouldn't agree that it was a great game, yes Shamrocks were right in it up till half time, but The Downs moved up a few gears in the 2nd half and Shamrocks has no answer.

It wasn't great quality, Shamrocks made so many stupid mistakes. They played like a junior team in the second half. The Downs were playing in 2nd gear. It's scary how easy The Downs are blowing away teams. Kinnegad by 12, Tyrrellspass by 17, St Loman's by 12, Athlone by 15, Shamrocks by 6 in a game they didn't necessarily have to win and again Shamrocks by 11. The Downs are winning games by an average margin of 12, if they don't win the title this year it would be an absolute travesty. They will go well in Leinster which I believe they are looking at already.

The Downs played in 2nd gear for most of the game. Hope Eivers and Mitchell don't have serious injuries.

Shamrocks kick outs were a disaster, surprised they didn't try something different, time for new blood for Shamrocks a lot of that team are finished. The Downs should be targeting Leinster

Good win by Shandonagh today, started well, then ended up under a bit of pressure somehow to see the game out. Talk of a retrospective ban after the incidents which occured. Wouldn't be surprised if Kavanagh sustained a nasty injury.

How can a team be looking at a Leinster campaign that they haven't qualified for yet? I'm curious as to what they could do to prepare for it? Are they going to train really hard for next fortnight to build up stamina for matches in November and December?

Shandonagh have been my selection for intermediate championship all year and this weekend gives me no reason to change my mind. Tubberclair were good yesterday, Whittaker especially but Shandonagh's first twenty mins today was exceptional. Any side that can line out minus Kevin Boyle, Aaron Craig, John Fry and others has strength in depth. Adam Treanor back at centre back released Daniel Scahill to drive forward from wing back and their defenders are making attackers defend, Matthew Scully is scoring goals regularly and Luke Tynan is worth a look at by county selectors, his all round game today was excellent. It should be a great final

Finished? Hardly. The majority of their starting team are 30 or younger, with only Denis Corroon and Darragh Daly on the other side of that. Yes, they brought on an experienced bench, but calling the team "finished" is ludicrous. They were also strong contenders for a Junior 1 final narrowly losing yesterday, and they're also competing in both the Minor and U20 finals. That's not the sign of a club or team in decline. cause if so majority of clubs in Wetsmeath are in a bad way.

It was impressive bringing on players like Mitchell, Carroll, Martin, and especially Coughlan-he was superb when he came on. They had a few chances to go for goal and completely finish the game but opted to handpass over the bar instead. Does anyone know which county club The Downs or Kinnegad will be meeting next?
