I was up the north the weekend by chance I saw Westmeath play in a challenge match they were very poor can't see them beating Longford look like a team with no interest brought in subs 10 minutes to go they didn't even warm up. One came off injured looks like hamstring.

Good man mick, love the positive vibe your bringing. Few questions, were westmeath at full strength or was it a trial game, were they trying things out with players a week before championship, with a week to go to championship were 50/50 positional calls up for grabs From experience these challenges can go either way a week before championship, generally doesn't have much say on the big one. Next Sunday in a Derby game which will bring its own bit of drama to the game but confident westmeath can get over the line. Start Shane Corcoran if fit, and maybe Brandon Kelly will get scores against Longford, leave some more experience on the bench if things were to get hairy

This game is winnable whether we have the heart and will to win it is utterly debatable. Wexford and it's aftermath has taken a huge mental toll on these players and only they can put it right. Longford are in a very positive frame of mind and will relish the challenge.

From the few posts i've seen here recently, it doesnt look like the mood is very positive about this weekend? Yes, while we did get to the Division 4 final, and it could have gone either way, it really was a huge shock to get that far, especially as we shipped defeats to London and Leitrim, a draw against Tipp and nearly lost to Waterford. We are a very young team with very few lads at the very top of their game, yet (hopefully). Would like to think we will take the positivity of getting to the league final and use a local Derby to put up a good game, but on the whole would likely still say your lads will be too strong. I guess we will see. Best of luck anyway! LongfordSham (Longford) - Posts: 146 - 07/04/2026 08:36:07 2665040 Link 0 |
