Might be a silly question but is tonight's game been played on grass or the artificial pitch in St Lomans ?

Any team named for tonight ? Most teams have their squads posted by now to generate a bit of interest. You'd imagine nobody involved in Sigerson this week will feature. Given that it should be quite a different line up to what was meant to play against Longford.

Yes it certainly would encourage club people to attend if they knew some of their club players were involved; Louth have released theirs so no idea why we can't. It's a hard sell for some not knowing who'll even feature.

Good auld performance to kick off the year. Was impressed with the usual lads - Luke, Wally, Lynam and Drumm all solid. Thought Kelly and Baker went very well too; you can definitely see Kelly as a nailed-on starter, and Baker as well, especially with a few backs leaving the panel.

Felt Louth kind of threw it away themselves in the first half - a very soft goal and then a poor kick-out that led to a well-taken goal. Molloy made a strong impact off the bench when he came on and that two-pointer volley was top class.

Not sure what to make of the goalie situation yet. Overall we're still not overly physically dominant, but it was good to see Conneaghan getting the restarts going quickly and going short when it's on - without Ray we could struggle a bit around the middle.

All things considered, not a bad result at all, especially given we had a few lads tied up with Sigerson, while they had about eight playing who featured in the Leinster final.

Good win and solid enough performance tonight. Some very good scores taken by us but I still think we are short one or two really dominant midfield players but nonetheless are positive start for Mark McHugh and his team.

Connaughton top class goalie.
I agree need Ray Connellan back asap with Lynam in midfield
But most glaring mistake is giving Conor McCormack a chance

Sure maybe just get the whole Caulry team to represent Westmeath?

You can laugh but anyone can see 7 or 8 Caulry players would easily improve the standard we had on display in Lomans last night
