You're going off last year's inter county championship and then proceed to pick Ormsby and Baker based on club form and the new rules, so you aren't picking based on last year's inter county! About three of your squad aren't even on this year's panel.

Sorry OverTheHill85, I probably didn't make that clear in my original wording. I meant that I'm not fully up to speed on this year's squad, so apologies if three of the players I named aren't actually on the panel. What I was trying to say is that everyone I picked has played for Westmeath in the past two years and has that county level experience. Except maybe the sub keeper Ross and Ciaran Nolan. Can you tell us who isn't in the panel since you seem to know? I didnt pick players solely based on a good club championship. For example, Senan has played for Westmeath plenty of times and would have started last year if he'd been fit. Shane Ormsby was also part of the panel last year and last years u20s. Players like Morgan Gavigan had a fantastic club championship, and I've heard he's in training, but there's no point including him in the team when I'm not sure what he's like at this level yet. On Brandon Kelly I don't think he's a starter at inter county level. Yes, he had a great year with the club but in fairness his high scoring was in intermediate level section B playing against the likes of Kilbeggan, Maryland, CFCW, Castledaly and Ballymore. I couldn't see Brandon Kelly doing what Luke does for the Downs, Baker for Caulry or even Forde for Moate at Senior level. That's my opinion, I hope I'm wrong and he gets chance to prove it in the league. Temple56 (Westmeath) - Posts: 590 - 09/12/2025 17:28:03 2647692 Link 0 |
