Replying To Claretandblue:  "Tyrrellspass guaranteed quarter final at least and a draw with Loman's prob needed for semi, Loman's in semi, Athlone also guaranteed quarter final at least, winners of Caulry vs Kinnegad pretty much guaranteed quarter final spot with the losers demoted to section B, Athlone will make semi if they win and Loman's win. Tang's chance depending on beating Athlone but they would also need Kinnegad to draw or beat Caulry as their score difference versus Athlone and Caulry would be inferior after today. Obviously that would change if they Athlone well. Killucan and The Downs preliminary quarter final, Shamrocks vs Malachy's is a dead rubber, Shandonagh need to beat Moate to force play off with Moate. Rochfortbridge should beat relegated Ballynacargy in intermediate section B to qualify along with winners of Multy Kilbeggan. Maryland vs Ballymore a dead rubber local derby!!"
Athlone guaranteed 1/4 at least? Can they not come 5th by losing to Tang and Kgad beating Caulry? Tang would have them on head to head. Kgad would then get second if Lomans beat Tpass.

Id imagine what the County Board have gone for here is continuity. Geoghegan and his team have been with that group i believe for the last four years. In the Ted Webb competition this year that played five games ,won four and lost to North Kerry on penos. To be fair theres alot of time put into the group in four years so they have to be admired for that and deserve a chance ,the water bottle comment is just childish or just a personal dig and should be treated as such.

David Geoghegan has been with this team since u13, the right man for the job.

If Athlone and Caulry both win, Kinnegad and Tang go down. would be some upset

I don't remember the same negativity about Kevlihan before he got the job and what experience had he before he got it. You don't need a big name with senior experience for a job like this. You are dealing with 15-17 year old kids and lads that have come through the underage structures with these lads are the right people to continue their development

Same squad as last game.
Foy is an auld man doesnt have legs for 60 and will either come on or be taken off after 40.
Lomans in third gear and still win,
Caulry are timing their run to a quarter final to perfection."
Seems like this comment did not go down to well with Foy on his Instagram. To be fair to him he'd start on any club team in Westmeath

Again this shows what a great championship format we have in Westmeath. All teams in section A still something to play for (except Lomans who are already through) have a chance of knockout football going into the last day making for an exciting finale. While four out of those five teams could still finish in the bottom 2 and get relegated to Section B.

If Kinnegad and Tang win will that not mean Athlone and Caulry go down?

I think so, Kinnegad will be on 5, Tang on 4 with head to head over Athlone

Continuity is always good. Kevlihan came through the levels with the group of players he had last two years . This is the pathway system that operates in most counties. Best of luck to David Geoghegan and his management team.

Foy is a brilliant footballer who would of course get his place on any club side in the county. The poster is best ignored.

Yes both Athlone and Kinnegad can finish second or go down on the final day. Should be very interesting

St.Lomans win again by just doing enough-sign of a good team-4 wins from 4 games without ever really reaching top gear and never looked like losing any of these games.Kinnegad had their chance yesterday in second half but the usual all huff and puff with no end product.Caulry finally woke up and put in a decent performance although Tang were very poor.Still all to play for in this group with only Lomans and T/pass safe from relegation-any of the other 4 teams can make 1/4 finals or be relegated to section B.The championship format in Westmeath is very good.

Outside chance malachys making qf doubt it but think could be still possible

Junior Championship heating up nicely.
Lomans and Shamrocks going well in Section A. I reckon it's St Lomans' to lose at this stage almost purely based on their scoring power. I'm not sure any of the sole junior clubs will be be able to match their fitness and youth.
The Downs will more than likely go through in 4th but I can't see them beating St.Joseph's, CFCW or Bun in a quarter final.
Bunbrosna had a great win at the weekend and should make at least a semi final. They've finally got a few young lads playing and they contributed 1-3 against Joseph's. Tormey playing role of impact sub this year gives them a good help in last few mins of games.
Joe's will surely go through in 2nd but I think they have gone backwards a bit this year, should still get to a semi and anything could happen there.
CFCW will be disappointed so far. Beat Bunbrosna well but will more than likely be facing Shamrocks or potentially Lomans should they lose to Ballycomoyle in the local derby.
Ballycomoyle are going ok but Jogger and McNicholas are big misses for them. Wouldn't be surprised to see them really put it up to CFCW in the last round.
St. Paul's will be fighting for their lives against Bun in the last round and I expect them to give them a good rattle. They caused Ballycomoyle a good few problems at weekend but missed goal chances are big regrets for them.

Think their defeat margin vs The Downs means it's impossible

Yea malachys can't qualify. Shamrocks are through to quarter finals and only teams that can qualify is the downs & killucan
The downs are on 6 who play killucan the last game who are currently on 4 , a killucan win would see them advance on head to head .. a draw would also see the downs through
Malachys can only get to 6 points and either the downs or killucan will be on 6 after this round is over if one of them beat eachother & not draw , the downs & killucan both have malachys on head to head

Fair point mate winning yesterday had effect. Good win for them. Shandonnagh gone I'd say
