Don't know anything about the ins and outs you refer to but meant to have said that Gannon neither started nor came on. Nor did Costello, Odd that both were named to start but not heard any reason why. Although one chap reckoned Gannon is not going to start for either footballers or hurlers as injury is nowhere near rehabilitated. I had previously heard he is gone for the year tbh. Shame. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3975 - 14/07/2024 14:07:51 2558962 Link 0 |
That was the general view. So why name him to start a hurling championship match? Very odd. Lads with pretty good insight into the club scene were scratching heads, I imagine Costello issue is separate. A good few of county footballers are on a break it seems. Probably be back for the football. Con being case in point although I imagine he was missed yesterday in what turned out to be a much closer game with Crokes than had been forecast. Some great games to look forward to in the Dublin SFC on weekend of 9th Aug. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3975 - 01/08/2024 10:23:22 2563358 Link 0 |

Well another 1 step forward and 2 steps back for the Dublin Hurlers...... Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3975 - 09/08/2024 08:14:37 2564335 Link 0 |
Dublin need to pick internal manager. I would include Joe Fortune in that given his long involvement in underage and Boden. Did decent enough job with Westmeath. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 12/08/2024 23:33:45 2564856 Link 1 |
You can rule Davy out now. More mileage with the Antrim job.

I actually like the chap but he's perfect example of the huge gap between the managerial merry go round farce and what the game is supposed to be about. Lads full of passion about * checks crest on top * one year and then jostling them and roaring into their faces the next. I suspect Dublin was one of his next destinations but one or other party demurred. I am deadly serious about not attending any senior county game if any of the named outside candidates get the job. Enough of this charade. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 16/08/2024 07:32:25 2565376 Link 1 |
Joe Fortune is a very good shout actually.

No sign of any appointment so whoever it is will not even have seen most of the county championship. Absurd to think that Henry or whoever - no harm to them - is going to come in when its over or as good as over and then bring something new to the table. I think it could be an internal manager this time Barney, tbh.

Not really in the loop but yes, there's two names being mentioned. Might even be a combination of them and more.

Donoghue back with Galway. Nice chap and did a reasonable job but another example of why Dublin need to get off the managerial CV booster cycle. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 30/08/2024 10:22:38 2567631 Link 1 |
Terrible crowd in Parnell Park yesterday for what was a knockout championship match with Raheny and Castleknock with a few county men on show… a good comeback win for Castleknock…. Word has it that Fenton will not be available to Dublin next season….! ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 3025 - 09/09/2024 22:16:25 2569174 Link 0 |
How are ye feeling about new hurling appointment??I like that it's home grown and hopefully it will bring more passion to this Dublin panel.there are a lot of very decent hurlers in Dublin. CTGAA10 (Limerick) - Posts: 2378 - 10/09/2024 22:01:41 2569327 Link 0 |
Won't make a jot of a difference…. Can't see Dublin troubling any of the big boys when it really matters…!!
