Ultimately the league table doesn't lie. We deserved to go down. Some baffling decisions from management. Fitzy was being destroyed, not at the races at all, and no reaction from the bench. Ironically it was our defence that hurt us yesterday when in previous games our forwards were causing us problems. I would have expected more experimentation from Farrell in the league. It didn't happen. A win in Clones would have seen us finish out on a decent run. We've still got the firepower to do damage in the championship though. Get John Small back into the half backs with James and Howard and if we get Con and Paddy Small back I think we'll be a tough prospect for any team. We're a long way off Kerry and Mayo at the moment though. D2 next year with the other metropolitans, Cork and Limerick. Some nice trips ahead. Target needs to be a Leinster win and then a drive at the AI series. Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4745 - 28/03/2022 13:59:52 2407763 Link 14 |

Fair play to all the gracious Dublin followers who warmly congratulated their Monaghan counterparts on the way out of Clones. A great rapport has built up between these teams over the last number of years on the back of some epic league encounters- the championship ones have been nothing but pain for Monaghan however! In fairness it will be a huge challenge

You'd wonder where all the fellas that were saying Dublin should be divided in 2 or even 4 are now, I think when Dublin get their run through Leinster they will have time to regroup and sort out any problems, saying that there will be teams now in Leinster that think they might have a real chance to win a provincial for the first time in years, Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3205 - 28/03/2022 20:51:00 2407893 Link 2 |
No harm seeing them go down for a while beause it wont be long till their back at it again... Vish (USA) - Posts: 94 - 28/03/2022 20:55:19 2407900 Link 3 |
Sorry to break the bad news to you Joxer, but depending on the draw, the division two matches against Cork and Limerick could well be fixed for Parnell Park in order to generate a bit of atmosphere. It might also be very difficult to negotiate a few mad lads-weekends in Navan, Newbridge and Drogheda during divorce proceedings. However a couple of romantic trips to Ennis and Derry might just save the day. (Hopefully!!!)

You never know with Cork. I've ended up there before with them on strike and no game anyway. Would be happy to welcome them to the Neller. Ennis and Derry are great spots, especially Celtic Park and would be happy to spend a night there if they could arrange for a Sat throw in. Either way the blue army will be on the march.

. OK, thanks. Well that's that so. The blue army may well be on the march in Div 2 next year but in this year's champo they will be marching to Drumcondra all the way - to a semi with Kerry at least. Well might be a tough QF against Ulster/Galway opposition but thats all that stands between them and a SF. Same with Kerry to be fair. timmyhogan (UK) - Posts: 290 - 29/03/2022 14:15:11 2408097 Link 1 |
Be surprised if it wasn't PUC - that stadium needs the cash and wont turn its nose up a the Dublin Dollar. Celtic Park, The GG and Ennis would be class - but we wouldnt get that lucky at get all of them.

So the reason we where relegated was cause we didn't get to play enough games at croker? You do realize we have won 6 of the last 10 league titles with the best away record in that time of any county??? ConnollyDub (Dublin) - Posts: 2007 - 29/03/2022 15:37:21 2408140 Link 5 |
I see Con went training with the Dublin hurling team on Sunday instead of heading down to Clones…. There is surely a message for Dessie in that….!!! ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 3925 - 31/03/2022 13:07:37 2408648 Link 0 |
