Now tbf to Dessie I never saw where he said Dublin have nt got players to score two pointers (as was said here) and i doubt very much Dessie would say that.

Mick if you are going to reside on the Dublin GAA Forum and talk about the Dubs, at least get your facts right....
Interview link above.
Not sure how you never saw this when you seem to see everything else...."
I cant get into that link Fionn but I presume it contradicts what I said aboit Dessie.

If so then I apologise.Im sorry for having time for Dessie.

Also I dont reside on Dublin forum but I do read it and have interest in what goes on in Dublin gaa.My kids are from Dublin,I reside in Dublin and indeed I am a member of a Dublin club.

Ihave a huge interest in gaa full stop."
As Dessie said, when asked about the lack of 2 point options, and I quote:-
Yes it is definitely something you would like to be able to address but there is always the challenge if you dont have those natural type of 2 point shooters in the group, it is difficult to manufacture them.

It remains a mind boggling statement by him tbh, considering for example the Dublin SFC round 1 of games."]Ok Fionn fair enough but Con and Basquel well capable of scoring 2 pointers. Im not making excuses for Dessie but that comment probably just made out of frustration."]Mick for heavens sake - it was not out of frustration.... He was calm and collected and the comment was about the whole season - not just one game.
He clearly said Dublin had no natural 2 pointer shooters in the whole squad or group as he called it.

End of....!"]Did Basquel go through a peculiar funk at a stage of this year's championship (v Galway & Armagh certainly), where he couldn't score a 1pointer let alone a 2pointer?"]He got injured but with the short season he hadnt recovered fully.
Like a few of the Dubs, it wasn't his best season for sure.

Scored 7pts for Boden the other night inc 3x 2 pointers v Na Fianna.

With Fento not lining out for Raheny in the Dublin SFC last weekend, I went and checked the Chicago GAA.

Apparently - The Chicago GAA season runs from February through September. This includes a period of recruitment and warm-up training in February, followed by regular games and competitions. The exact schedule can vary, but the core of the season falls within these months.

Brian Fenton signed for John McBride's GAA Club in The Windy City, so it is difficult to see he coming back to play for Raheny in the Dublin SFC this season. - ???

Also, confirmed that the Dublin CB did speak with Declan about the role.

Great to see Con back to full fitness and score 3-06 upon his return.
We really missed him this year, but it was a very long season for him with Cuala etc.."
Fionn, can you give some detail regarding official confirmation of talks between Declan and Dublin County Board with respect to the Dublin Senior football manager position.
Have both or either parties publicly confirmed this?"
I would like to know too because the stories are different from everyone.I was talking to a man last night who is involved in the DCB and he said a committe were gathered only last Tuesday to select the Dublin manager.I asked him about the Darcy rumours and he said he does nt know whether he was approached or not but the group was only set up Tuesday.

Good to see Roscommon man, Andy Moran, get the Mayo job.
Backroom team named.

As I tried to post previously, I have yet to see a person go for an interview for a county team manager's position and not have his backroom team organised or even part named.
In fact, many club managers would also have their support team lined up before they went for a job.
Never mind a job that you knew you were going to go for, months in advance....
Not only do you have to sell yourself to the committee, but also sell your backroom team to them also.
It is the full package.

So if anyone still thinks only one person went for the Dublin job.....

Anyway, enough of that.
We are all on the good ship Brennan now... ;o)

Fionn, I do think you are making too many assumptions, I don't know what detail GB presented to the County board. Not sure if following Mayo ways would be the best advice.
When Ballaghaderreen gaa club was founded Ballaghaderreen was geographically in Mayo and when the County boundaries changed the club elected to stay with Mayo, very understandable.
If proposed changes bring parts of south Kilkenny into Waterford I don't think the clubs in that area will change to Waterford either.

I watched the Anton O'Toole documentary on TG4 last night.

This documentary might be a few years old, but it was fantastic. I remember watching him play, more so at the end of his career, but the Dubs V Kerry and also v Cork were great games to watch, great memories.

The Dublin teams he played on were excellent, great colour in the stands and as referenced in the documentary they along with Kerry, Offaly, Cork, Roscommon, Galway etc did a huge amount for recession hit Ireland in the early 1980s.

The clip where Anton attended a Dublin training session towards the end of his life showed the link between those teams of the past & present. Denis Bastick and Eoghan O'Gara spoke in glowing terms about him.

While the Dublin six in a row team was a great team, there's something about the team of the 1970's/early 80's that helped to make Gaelic football great to watch. I grew up in a hurling household but when the bigger football sides played, there was always a rush to get the best seat in front of the TV. Kerry were an outstanding team then also. But other counties seemed to raise their game too because of Kerry & Dublin. The football of the era seemed to be very exciting and a lot of what players did seemed to be much more off the cuff than today. In the documentary Ger Power in particular spoke of Anton using the hips to send him the wrong way.

It must have been a magical era to watch Gaelic football. The players who played for the Dubs back then certainly looked to be the best of friends.

Great documentary, 10/10.

I know that about Andy - I was having a laugh. Yes it was originally part of Mayo. I was aware of that fact.

Fantastic doc on the Blue Panther.Lovely scenes of meet up with the lads .Paddy Cullen rip and good interview with Mullins rip. Asked if the team of the 70 s would beat Gavin s team Anto s reply was Id say Gavins team would win by a few points but you have to remember we are all in our sixties now Class ..Many young Dubs dont remember Heffo s army and I honestly think that they were a superior team to Gavins team. I know its different times and as the lads said the players nowadays are looked after better with diets and training but Heffo s army get my vote.

But sure you not telling us Fionn. Was Darcy offered job? was his role with Leinster a problem with money? A guy involved with DCB told me a group were only set up last Tuesday to find a manager, It seems to be all a big secret. I have my own idea on what happened but I cant say with certainty but Im not sure too many applied for the job if any.

The money the lads get for playing over there, is of house deposit scale....
I cant blame those who are lucky enough to be asked to head over there for a Summer.
It has been happening for years.
Some players in the past have done multiple trips over.

It is a hell of a commitment to play in a county set up, and even more so these days.
Life is nearly put on hold for a few years whilst you play inter county.

Yes, I just re-checked:-

John McBride's beat Wolfe Tones in the Intermediate Final

Padraig Pearse's beat Wolfe Tones in the Senior Final

Parnell's beat Patriot's in the Junior Final.
