Lads what is it with Ballymun in the Dublin Championship that they keep underachieving with the amount of quality footballers they have? Or maybe they're not? Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 744 - 19/09/2022 14:30:35 2441212 Link 0 |
Yes, but a big part of the problem with BK was that by the time the Dublin SFC got to the nitty gritty stages, the Dublin contingent who joined up with the club were either wrecked or injured. Dublin's gain was BK loss unfortunately. The team this year is a shadow of the team of a couple of years ago and age has caught up on them. Even this year the Small brothers, Evan and Jamesie were carrying injuries.... There was defo an All Ireland Club title in that BK team but it wasnt to be... A lot of Dublin club titles left behind them also imo. Having said that - for BK to produce so many Dublin footballers recently from such a small club was amazing and will never be repeated. Compare the size of BK to K.Crokes for example.... Massive difference in number of its members and club players. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4266 - 19/09/2022 15:46:56 2441226 Link 1 |

It looks like the bookies think that it is going to be between Kerry and Dublin again next year. What way is the semi-final draw this year? I think it was Leinster v Munster last year, so that should not happen again this year. Therefore, they could possibly meet up in the All Ireland Final. Kerry 6/4 Dublin 2/1 Mayo 10/1 (Never rule them out!) Galway 12/1 Armagh 16/1 Derry 20/1 Donegal 20/1 Tyrone 20/1 Monaghan 40/1 Kildare 50/1 Roscommon 100/1 Rest > 100/1 PS: I d'ont really bet myself as the bookies have several experienced staff with PHD's (In mathematics) using Artificial Intelligence (AI) calculating the odds and they are not generally; not too far off the mark. The above odds are for information only as bookies have to pay for their offices, staff and big cars. Keep your money in your pockets if you have any sense. letsgetgoing (Roscommon) - Posts: 740 - 20/09/2022 10:55:09 2441276 Link 0 |

Armagh might have learned a thing or two, 16/1.

Folks is there any coverage of the Dublin club semi finals this weekend? From what I see RTE are showing a Cavan semi final on Saturday and nothing on Sunday, and TG4 have the Mayo quarter finals on Sunday. Surely the Dublin semis are on somewhere? icantshoot (Down) - Posts: 64 - 29/09/2022 08:34:55 2442193 Link 0 |

Very sad news today with the passing of Brian Mullins, aged only 68. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4266 - 30/09/2022 18:04:46 2442351 Link 0 |
Wonderful achievement by Crokes winning the Double Double yesterday. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4266 - 24/10/2022 11:15:49 2445233 Link 0 |
They left it behind them again. The point waved wide made no difference to the result but you would wonder did it make a difference to how the last ten minutes played out. Hayes well held all the game then turned up at the right time. Have to say, don't see him as Dublin's go to man in the forwards. I'd give Hetherton another shout or Considine. Burke was brilliant after a few early misses, Good championship overall and plenty for Donohoe to mull over for the next few months. I watched it on Gaago. A very enjoyable final, even though I had a slight preference for Na Fianna to prevail. They did leave it after them. Full congratulations of Crokes though, on their double-double, massive achievement. One thing that struck me, even though the skill level and physicality were quite high overall, there was a definite lack of goal-scoring opportunities, and this is something that the Dublin senior hurlers seem to also experience. And when Na Fianna ever did get near goal, the young Kilmacud keeper was in stoic form. I can't remember his name now, but he really was the difference between victory and defeat.

For next year it is hard to look past Crokes, NF or Cuala in the Hurling, and in the Football - Crokes and NF once again. Fancy WC to do well also. Some good players on their team. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4266 - 24/10/2022 16:34:23 2445288 Link 0 |
No goal scorers! Gibbons was brilliant but we just don't have a goal scorer. Other than Con!

Crokes have Clough in a rematch, I think in Parnell. Then winners of Mullens of Carlow and Aidans of Wexford in semi if win that. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3563 - 25/10/2022 13:35:24 2445375 Link 8 |
Leinster semi finals in both codes in croke park so plenty of incentive for teams there, agree on Ballyhale if they are on their game can't see anyone in leinster touching them, nearly got caught by Mount Leinster Rangers and St Ryanaghs last year but I think their preparation for those games was effected by a stag, wedding and Covid.

They look a lot sharper this year. Breezed through Kilkenny, and sad to say i don't think any of the rest in Leinster are as good as the other three Kilkenny semi finalists, Not that convinced by Crokes as national contenders. Clough were well able for them last year and Dublin club record in Leinster apart from Cuala is pretty abysmal. Standard overall has been good but Cuala have come back to the field rather than any of the rest catching them. Advantage Crokes do have is the few weeks break and the benefit of experience. Considine could stake out a claim as Dublin full forward in place of Hayes if his form continues. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3563 - 26/10/2022 16:30:03 2445536 Link 8 |
