It would be absolutely massive for Westneath hurling if your lads could beat Colaiste Eoin!! They won the Corn ui Duill in recent years, and reached another final.

Junior B hurling final this weekend valley84 (Westmeath) - Posts: 1921 - 02/12/2025 18:03:22 2646819 Link 0 |

Not saying it's perfect but when would you play it? I don't think Turin could field a junior B team during July/August/September/October when the intermediate championship is on. Turin play high quality minor and under 20 with Na Piarsaigh so the reality is in my humble opinion there are no dates. jobber (Westmeath) - Posts: 1836 - 02/12/2025 23:13:42 2646848 Link 0 |

The group stages of the junior A were played in July, which meant the final could be played on the 9th of November. The junior B didn't start until mid October, minor championship has no bearing on it. As far as I know Turin only played one game (won it) and got 2 walkovers. Only one team qualified from each group for the final and there were no semis. So it was disrespectful to the clubs/teams in the B championship by not starting it in July when the Junior A was on.

Turín are in the final but no one answered my question.Could or would they have fielded in July or August when the intermediate Championship was in full swing.I believe not so in that case the fixtures people are not being disrespectful but doing their best to help. If people are going to moan show how people have failed with facts before we Talk about disrespect.

You're missing the point, the Junior A and Junior B were always played at the same time in years gone by, during the summer. My post has nothing to do with Turin or any other club.

Intermediate teams would often play on a Sunday then the junior team on a Tuesday. No reason the junior a and b championships aren't played off when the county team are still going Turin didn't enter a second team in the league but no club is obligated to do so valley84 (Westmeath) - Posts: 1921 - 05/12/2025 16:29:12 2647152 Link 0 |

Always played or not always played.I am clearly saying that at least one of the teams in this weekends final could not have played junior B whilst the intermediate championship was ongoing. Contradict me with facts and then I could agree it's disrespectful but otherwise you have to agree the board is trying to help everyone

You keep mentioning Turin, when I'd imagine Ringtown, Delvin, Plunketts, the Wood, Brigids, Daltons & Southern Gaels would've had similar problems. Turin could field a Junior B team every year when it was played alongside the Intermediate championship, that's a fact. Turin have had a good influx of players coming from underage to adult in the last 2 years, also a fact, so their numbers have grown (31 on their Intermediate final panel). Intermediate clubs entering a team in junior only have to name 10 while senior clubs, similar in size to Intermediate clubs have to name 12, also a fact. You're basically saying that Turin held up the junior B because of a numbers issue. And I can guarantee you, if you asked any club in the junior (A or B) when they'd like to play, they'd tell you during the summer months. I'll leave you with this fact, a Turin man told me they would have played junior during the summer as they had a number of players who went months without any meaningful games, and some them lads will only be playing their second competitive game of 2025 tomorrow.

Well lets agree to disagree. Id say the board would want junior b in the summer as well but when its put to secretaries in those months with injuries, holidays, managers moaning it's not simple.
