Replying To Blackjack:  "What would concern me from a Castletown perspective is on both occasions this year against LLG they were cruising and got caught when Tommy Doyle went into full forward. This tactic worked for LLG against Castletown twice.
Castletown could not cope with it after half time.
I would worry about it as they had time to prepare for it and didn't appear to have a solution.
Allowing Jack Murphy to sweep eventually probably saved the game for CTG."
I agree with this point about Tommy Doyle. Made this point before the final. However the Gaels also have a high fielder in Eoin Daly so that is a challenge for CTG. Doyle drew a lot of frees yesterday. Might have had 1 more at least but you couldn't fault the ref. LLG had a good spread of scorers. CTG struggled there.

I don't buy the argument about rustiness. In fairness CTG had chances. They missed scorable frees and opportunities from play. Reilly had a great first half but seemed out of sorts in the second and missed 2 you would expect him to nail. Looked like striking fluidity was not there in the second. Did he get injured?

Williams was outstanding. He was head and shoulders the best yesterday. Great talent and contribution from play in build up etc was as valuable as dead ball and scoring.

Someone mentioned silly LLG frees. In my opinion and I mentioned before that this can be part of an effective plan to keep a team outside the arc and 21 where they present a higher goal threat. CTG like LLG will only get so many chances and a certain number may be goal chances. If you make a team take scores from frees out at the 35 -45 m zone then they reduce their goal chances. It's a simple effective defence tool. Look at the scoring stats from frees and play for both sides.
