The Gaels to beat Clonkill in semi, Castletown overall favourites. I'd say Castletown would rather face Clonkill after yesterday, some people left at half time yesterday thinking an eight point lead would easily do Raharney, in fact quite a few left. The Gaels were a force throughout second half, an eight point deficit on a calm day against the champions and yet they gradually clawed their way back. The third Raharney goal with a couple of mins left seemed the clinching score but still The Gaels kept battling. The contrast between both sets of supporters at the final whistle was something else, Raharney supporters couldn't believe that their reign was over, The Gaels supporters jubilant. Personally I think Castletown would rather play the Gaels in a final, when clonkill hit form they have amazing players over the field and I think more balanced than the Gaels, they have more top players that need watching where as the Gaels reliant on a few. clonkill fully deserved their victory against raharney and we're 8 points up themselves, where as no matter how you look at the Gaels v raharney, they were extremely lucky to get the result with 2 injury time goals after being 8/9 down, not taking anything from a good spirited gutsy Gaels performance, I just think clonkill are a more balanced team, and for me the clonkill/raharney game was far superior in quality than that of the raharney and Gaels, will make for a smashing semi final either way, and just to finish, I can't see either of them beating Castletown regardless of who comes through Castletown showed a huge level of ability and desire against all be it a weak pollard side, for me the only team that was going to take Castletown this year was raharney and now they are all but out. It will be interesting to see how the teams line up in the final round with 2 potentially effective dead rubbers. Could affect the intermediate team if they field weaker teams. But it will be shadow boxing

Clonkill's intermediate team not in contention so it's not a concern. They've used a lot of players outside named 15, at least 25 in total, doing well to simply field at this stage.

If true ashame really watching club action westmeath has good standard and plenty of potentially at hurling and football.

As previous poster said O' Brien was not interested in meath job. Greville would know Meath scene better so that could be an option but I'd be surprised. It's quiet obvious with what is going on with football selection committee that our boards way of doing things leaves a lot to be desired.

Is Greville coaching in Meath already? Pity he couldn't stay within the county. Internal is the way to go if it's an option at all , getting in journey men rarely works.

This was mentioned by earlier poster as a possibility. In fairness to Meath they approached our two best internal lads and got one of them. Meath definitely the winners with this appointment. He'd been selector for 5 years with seniors here and U20 Manager... Probably couldn't have done much more. Good luck to him
