Word has it he's on his way to Laois, if he's not already there.

Not even a rumour in circulation. I wouldn't think there would be a queue from outside looking for it, so it is probably down to a handful of internals, as I can't imagine the internal queue being overly long either. Whoever the brave soul is will get no criticism from me.

He was very much running for the Kildare gig until the announcement last night, in fairness

I welcome the fact that there isn't rumours circulating, might indicate a bit of professionalism which is badly needed in the county. I hate to give the powers that be in the county any credit based upon what I see and hear but they did think outside the box the last time when they appointed Davy Burke while in parallel allowing some one of the caliber of Kevin O'Brien to serve his time with the minors and under 20 teams. This means that we have a valid internal possibility and there is nothing stopping the county scouting outside the county for potential candidates like the Davy Burkes of this world. When you see the reaction to Glen Ryan in Kildare, I would hope that were Kevin to be given the job that the same reaction and support would be forthcoming from within Wicklow.

I agree there won't be a queue any time soon for the Wicklow job. Not likely until such time as we have a steady stream of talent coming through from underage; as most up and coming manager as well as their more experienced counterparts with a reputation to uphold, need raw material to work with. The one criticism I would level at the county board is that the club championship is presently in full swing and whoever the manager is to be won't have the opportunity to view the players in action.

Davy Burke was interested in applying for the Kildare job. He did two years and didn't see out his third year which i think was optional. Davy behaved correctly, he resigned and applied for the Kildare job which unfortunately he didn'y get. Davy did a good job in the two years he was with us. Good luck to him in his future endeavours. A manager now needs to be appointed in Wicklow as soon as is possible.

After today' and last nights results we have to look at Donard The Glen and Rathnew again. Rathnew are always more than capable of springing a surprise, even of winning Mikey, but Avondale were one of my dark horses this year. Have to rethink.

We should never be surprised by Rathnew. They have championship pedigree even if they are not the force they were. Disappointed with AGB and St. Pats although i wouldn't rule Pats out. Overall with the exception of Balto-Rathnew scoring in games low, lack quality forwards from a county perspective. My tip Tinahely 1 point up at half time against Blessington.

Well what are peoples opinions on this weekends matches . The 4 semi finalists from last year are facing crunch games this weekend. Is there any chance of one of them facing into relegation. I think there could well be a surprise in one or two of them.

Time to start getting the guards involved with these incidents and start charging people.

The people involved in these kind of incidents should be given length bans and prosecuted if required, however these individuals are in the minority. I don't like the way these type of incidents are reported in the national media. Wicklow is not the only county where this happens but it is protrayed as such. These individuals are not contributing to games in the county by behaving this way and if they can't behave in a civilised manner and be good role modela then they have no place being involved at any level especially not at juvenile level.

What is circulating online that I have seen (didn't see the build up or what happened prior) but it is a disgrace, and I think both clubs should be banned from all grades for at least 1 year.

Lads let's get real here the Wicklow County Board will do zero about this just like in the huge number of similar brawls throughout the County over the years. We will hear the usual defenses from the clubs iinvolved I.e. it was only one or two lads fighting and the whole club shouldn't be blamed for their actions etc erc. There will be no bans of players or mentors involved, no fines for the clubs, nothing to see here let's keep drifting along the same way we always do
