Cynical/Nasty edge to Toomes play?? They won and won well - fair and square. They were the better team on the day and the score line shows from the start. 5 players were sent off not 4. They have had a great year but Sean's deserved the win last week no denying it.

If you were watching the video I was. That wasn't a member of management.

You obviously have better eye site than me because it was long started before any footage came about both teams had entered dressing and came back out once Drumhowan management started the row

You clearly mustn't watch much junior football other than your own club's matches. Toome by a country mile the best footballing team in junior but they're biggest weakness is that they're a bit soft. Sean's took full advantage of this in the junior final and bullied them all over the pitch.

Dunno what game you were watching lad…toome spend the game trying to get their opponents sent off.

Was in Inniskeen yesterday for the Intermediate final. Very exciting came right through. Aughnaumullen will be kicking themselves. They had quite a few missed opportunities which on the other end Donaghmoyne took. Aughnamullen blew for over carrying twice and 2 points came off them. Misunderstanding between goalie and their midfield caused the penalty also. The spirit of the game was good though both teams were just going in hard.

Both Garland and Bannigan was a joy to watch. Exceptional scores by Garland, Strong hard running by Bannigan it was great from these young lads. The guts both teams showed to take on their men was brilliant to watch. This is how we need all club games to be played. Cut out the negative play. Was a very intense, hard hitting game which showed both teams were up for it. Aughnamullen are on the up it has to be said, very young team I would say their average age is about 24-26. Junior final last year and Intermediate final this year. The experience of that game yesterday will stand to them. They aren't far away. Donaghmoyne probably were deserving winners but was a well matched pair.

What happens is Donaghmoyne win the double? who goes up with them?

Toome and Drumhowan game looked like madness. That's all I know about that game.

Scotstown v Clontibret now in senior league final Friday should be interesting to see how Scotstown approach it the week before playing a massive game against either Glen or St Eunans. Game time might suit them.

It has to be said we have been served up with some great games this championship and really looking forward to next years already.

There were a number of factors that contributed to this racket .
1. Toome could have easily had a number of player lined in the first half
2. Drumhowan vented their anger towards the officals at half time as the teams headed towards the dressing rooms. for some reason the toome lads decided to get involved.
3. the layout of the dressing rooms where everyone has to enter one gate to get access was a flash point.
as regards what will be the outcome of this, probably fined. no official video evidence and red card issued to one player before start of second half means the ref dealt with it,
Toome took their eye of the ball badly against seans. they got caught , but can't see clones getting the better of them in the final.

Toome vs Drumhowan

Audrey Carville's Twitter post of the half time incident now has 26k views and a headline of "Just another normal Sunday afternoon at a GAA match." This comment was totally unjustified as 99.9% of GAA across Ireland passed of with incident.

However the county board will have to come down hard on the member of the Drumhowan management team that was basically out of control from the first whistle. His antics were an embarrassment to both his club and the GAA as a whole but speaking to good Drumhowan people leaving the match this man has been doing this sort of thing for years. Words like shamefully, embarrassed and mortified were words used to describe how Drumhowan people felt. Somebody in that club has to stand up and say STOP as they have the makings of a good young hard running team but yesterday they were lions lead by a donkey.

The ref did let a lot go in the beginning but the Drumhowan management seemed to be more concerned about bad calls than trying to rectify positional switches on the field. They left James Wilson with 45m of space for the first half but instead of sorting that out were more concerned about trying to rough up opposition and constantly questioning refereeing decisions and they lost their composure on and off the field.

Toome were good value for their win were by no means angels in the whole thing but kept their composure to see it out. However the atmosphere around the ground during and after the incident was very unsavoury and something all GAA fans don't like seeing.

Supporters leaving weren't talking about a solid Toome performance and how good young Wilson was instead they were annoyed with what they had witnessed and this was all down to one individual on the Drumhowan line.

The Intermediate final was a great occasion. A huge, vocal crowd made for a brilliant atmosphere, with neighbours and families seemingly split between red and blue all around the ground. On the pitch, it was honesty all the way and the football was excellent as a result.
Agree 100% with another poster, Bannigan and Garland were exceptional. Both have serious ability to gather a ball under pressure, turn and make something happen. It was tough on Bannigan to miss the penalty given his contribution to his team. However the way he applied himself in the dying minutes of the game having missed the spot kick spoke volumes of the lad.
In the end, there was a bit more quality about Donaghmoyne with young McDonald and Stephen Finnegan adding enough to Garland's threat to give them a winning edge. Colin Clerkin had a super first half for Aughnamullen but didn't quite offer the same threat in the later stages. Their midfield is big and powerful but were out on their feet with 5 to go. Frank Markey, for an ould fella, had some game in the middle for Donaghmoyne.

All that was good about Monaghan football was on show in Inniskeen yesterday. It's a a damn shame that the headlines were made elsewhere.

Frustrating that someone originally from the county like Audrey Carville would use a video like that as a cheap shot against the GAA in Monaghan and making it sound like it's an every day occurrence - "another normal Sunday". Yes it was an ugly incident that got out of hand but what does sharing it on social media achieve? She also inaccurately claimed when replying to a retweet that 5 sending's off resulted from it, in actual fact only one Toome player was sent off from that which is quite laughable that one guy was singled out. Will be interesting to see what the county board do as a result of it. As it wasn't a championship game it wasn't recorded and they will going mainly on what the referee or umpire witnessed and the footage being widely circulated.

Agree with all above. That is not the norm in Monaghan Football. We saw two of the local rivals go head to head in the much anticipated IFC on Sunday. Two teams with plenty of physicality gave everything. I think there was only 3 cards shown in a frantic hard hitting game. Penalties given to both sides but referee made all the big calls correct and always remained in control of game whilst allowing both teams to have a fair battle. Fair play to both teams on a very pulsating and entertaining game

Totally agree with this. Yes the video didn't make pretty viewing but if this video wasn't circulated would they of been as big of deal made?? I doubt it. As stated above both these teams play physical, they both play on edge and things boiled over a little. This happens in every county as some stage of the year. Don't think we should dwell on it too much.

Whats the verdicts on all the leagues now??

Junior League- Fancy Clones to cause the upset against Toome. Any word on who, if anyone is suspended for Toome?

Intermediate League - Emyvale basically have a freebie semi final as you'd imagine Donaghmoyne won't play any starters, and turn their focus to the Ulster Club. Doohamlet vs Emyvale final with Emyvale shading it.

Senior League - Interesting one. The fact that Scotstown played such a strong team against Magheracloone would lead you to believe that they'll go strong against Clontibret. Clontibret were missing their two best forwards, McManus and O'Dowd against Latton in the semi, if them boys aren't fit then I can only see one result.

Great final. Garland was sensational, hed swing a point in a phone box. Bannigan was also heroic on the other side. Donaghmoyne all year have played that type of game, good and the very bad but they played the big plays very well on Saturday. Aughnamullen time will come, impressive year for them.

Anyone know what happens if Donaghmoyne win the double?? Who goes up to senior with them? Aughnamullen as beaten Championship Finalists or the beaten league finalists.

Aughnamullen will go up as Championship runners up if Donaghmoyne win double

Was at it. Possibly the worst team I've ever seen play a senior football match. Others at the game said it wasn't as bad as the game against truagh though so that must have been dire.
Was watching this and thinking of the recent comments from eamonn McGee about coaches. Really think we have some outside coaches in the county that surely are no better than our own home grown men.
I heard 30k mentioned last night..... watching that effort it isn't money well spent. I'm sure others might disagree but I don't think 1 championship for 90k is a great return. How much work could be done round a club for that?
Clontibret were so negative it was unreal..... scotstown won by 9, could have been more..... they stopped trying with 25 minutes left... they would have a harder match if they had trained last night.

Game was over as a contest before it even started once the team news came out. MP O'Dowd and Conor McManus must have scored 70% of their scores this year. Without those guys, they were never going to trouble the scoreboard. Presumably both were carrying injuries.
As for the post above regarding the 30 grand.. if you believe any club in Monaghan are paying 30 grand to a manager, then you're one gullible fella. While they'll be disappointed, clubs like Ballybay, Truagh, Inniskeen have all been paying outsiders to manage them for how long now, and Clontibret have got a much better return on investment than any of those clubs.
Probably the end for this Clontibret team, what a run they've had for the last 20 years, especially considering the limited player pool they're picking from.
