In Sligonians little head all that counts is Molaise Gaels. That's North Sligo!!!!!

I cannot see you beating Roscommon or even close it. Two poor teams playing yesterday and was impressed with Leitrim and you have some nice players coming along. Was very confused with Sligo teams tactics and as for team selection - more baffled. Mayo look a step ahead of everyone else at the moment. Anyone any idea how the other provinces are shaping up?

Mayo was far from convincing in their wins against Sligo,Roscommon some good forwards yes but not great in midfield or defence. Galway well capable of beating them in round 5. Ulster winner will win the All-Ireland again. Kerry will likely beat the Connnacht champions in the All-Ireland semi-finals Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 747 - 02/04/2026 18:24:31 2664471 Link 0 |

Yes was poor stuff both teams tried not to lose rather than win it. Thought Walsh made a big difference off the bench for Sligo. Be tough one for us in The Hyde but who knows what can happen.

If your scenario plays out which I strongly doubt will happen, there will be nothing interesting about who gets third. It will be Roscommon

The championship draws have taken place. Im not in favour of the addition of a quarter final. Three teams to qualify out of a group of 5 will seriously take from the round robin. Group A looks fairly handy for Gaels and Mary's. Third spot is probably up in the air a bit. Group B is very straightforward. Drumcliffe, Molaise and Coolera with Easkey and Coolaney in relegation. eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 2369 - 06/04/2026 14:04:23 2664971 Link 0 |

Agree to a point with you on the new format. I think to keep a bit of risk involved they should have just put bottom team into a relegation final and not bottom 2. Not much reward for coming 4th now. I also didn't understand what all the numbering was about and it wasn't explained at all on the stream. In any event I think you're right on your top 6 in Senior. In intermediate Curry will be the favourites surely. But the other group is a good bit easier. I expect Bunninadden, Enniscrone and Calry to get out. Curry Geevagh and Ballymote in group 1.

My mistake... I'm not from nort sligo despite what you say so forgot Coolrra, my main point was Mary's, Carly, DRP, Molaise all big population clubs have had very little impact on senior outcomes over the last 30yrs... maybe 1 title.

Hopefully the u20s can perform to a high standard in tuam. I think they will. The young lads now dont seem to fear the bigger counties. Rooney is out it looks like. A lot of talented lads. Henry is a good man to encourage lads and he was a superb player too. Southsligoman (Sligo) - Posts: 15 - 08/04/2026 14:55:27 2665273 Link 0 |

U20s very frustrating again. Poor shot selection our downfall again. I said it last week about the free out wide late on (which was converted against Leitrim) and missed against Galway.... should have been worked to a better position. Game effort but Sligo don't need game efforts anymore. We need to be ruthless. Its quite apparant that Kevin Johnston will be our messiah in the future. Our U.20 journey came to an end tonight. It was a disappointing campaign. The Mayo game was the game that slipped away from us. We certainly improved from when that group were under 17. I could see a few lads getting drafted into the senior set up but I doubt if they will be on any match day panel. eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 2369 - 08/04/2026 22:15:09 2665338 Link 0 |

But harsh lads. These young lads fought to the end. I thought over the 64 minutes they were slightly the better team. Maybe im biased! The galway goal was a killer. The young lad will learn from that. At inter county level any mistake is generally punished. Mulhern mistake should have been punished too. He is talented but very casual on the ball. There was no harsh comment in any post. Are you happy to come 4th out of a group of 5. We have loads of moral victories over the years.

I'd agree. Mayo Galway are always as good as many in the country so if we are disappointed not the win we are competitive which is something we were not for many years in the 00 and 10s at minor and U20. There is no reason why we will not be competing seriously in senior Connaught completion this decade if we nurture these lads.

Sligo U20s were good last night unlucky not win, the big goal chances not taken at the end of both halves and gifting one to Galway proved costly. That they were so competitive against Galway and Mayo makes me wonder what happened in the game against Roscommon. The success of this grade is how many will go on to be established county Seniors and Sligo should have a handful from this years U20 crop including Eli Rooney who missed the last two games through injury.
