Replying To ninjasmyth:  "Great win today for our great Louth team, been an interesting League and Championship so far, stayed up in Division 2, no easy feat, now in a Leinster Semi final with Kildare likely in Navan. Could go either way. Subs and last quarter was brilliant, we keep doing that we could be Leinster champions.....An Lu Abu."
I hope ye can put it up to the Dubs assuming ye get by Kildare. I think ye can... would be great to see it happening.

Got over the line with not a great performance, but in the semi final and that's all that counts. Tullamore seems a strange venue for Louth v Kildare, why not Parnell Park or Navan ?

I think many would say we deserve a Leinster title at this stage factoring in the strides made in the past number of years coming from being a Div4 outfit and of course easing that pain of 2010 at that, the Dubs ain't the force they once were and are more beatable, our biggest downfall imho when playing the Dubs down through the years was more psychological one, that fear factor in otherwards being afraid giving them too much respect etc. There is no doubt we can do it and what a fairy tale that would be by an ex Dub in tearing up the script.

Louth played Kildare in Tullamore three years ago and they hammered us. Tullamore is a great ground but it's a joke of a venue for this fixture. It's like Kildare playing us in Newry. It should be in Navan or Parnell Park.

What an odd thing to assume

Very disjointed performance yesterday, first half all over the place, we seem to be a second half team most of the time.
Once Tommy came in, things improved, what a player he is for us, a Roy Keane engine in him.

Great renovation job done on Newbridge, i was sitting in the stand, great facilities .

Kildare will be licking their lips looking at our game yesterday, not much between the 2 of us i would say and a huge improvement needed next day out by us.

Strange decision for Tullamore, i hate the drive over to it for whatever reason, seems like an awful trek compared to some of the other provincial grounds.

We do need to up our game for sure in putting Kildare to the sword and we should, but the first game out in the championship can be commonly nervy it is the championship after all, last years outing v Wexford was no different they put up a fight for large portions of that game with the goals killing them off eventually, so I wouldn't be all too concerned.

I mean, it's fair to have assumed Armagh would beat Antrim.. Galway would beat New York.. Dublin would beat Wicklow.
It's also fair to have Louth favourites for this games, I'd agree, they are.. but assume? We wiped the floor with Laois this year, dismantled them altogether

That's right, assuming Louth beat ye. Is that a hard one for you to fathom or are you just being contrary?

No I understand it. But as I said, it's an odd thing to assume. Not particularly fearing Louth at this moment

To assume is to accept something is more than likely to happen.
Kildare fans will obviously be offended by the assumption that Louth will beat Kildare.

The Kildare poster is correct in saying that the Lilywhites wiped the floor with Laois in the NFL.
On that basis I think he infers (not assumes) that they would beat Laois had they met in Leinster Semi-Final.

That game yesterday could very well have gone Laois's way - they were on top for long spells.
Beforehand Laois fans would have been miffed by the assumption that yesterday's game was a gimme for Louth,

Can I assume that this helps clear up your little spat ?

Or maybe it's hard for you to fathom that you're one of the most contrary posters on these forums.

If I'm not mistaken O'Connor Park is a happy hunting ground for Kildare and aren't Louth demoted to the Tailteann cup if they lose this match?

I assumed our semi final would be in Newbridge because the Leinster council made it the "home" for both us and Kildare last weekend. It was our home game and they brought us to Newbridge. If it had been Wexford we were in Carlow. We are being mistreated. Full stop. Maybe we should have been like Kildare or Antrim and said "Drogheda or drop"

Yeah Louth are demoted if they lose to Kildare. Louth have reached their third Leinster semi-final in a row. This is the first time since 1998 that they achieved this. Louth are looking to reach the Leinster final for the third year in a row. They have only achieved this once between 1912 and 1914. Louth have never won a Leinster semi-final outside of Dublin and Louth.
